Everyone that has a doodle knows that when you take your pup to the groomer they always want to shave down because of "mats". Given it may be true in some cases, but in some its not.. they may find one or two but prefer to just shave down because of time restraints and to get to their next customer (i.e. prevent from losing money). The hertzko tool definitely takes all mats out from large to small and once completed, it's a great maintenance tool. Given that I prefer long hair doodles, no more shave downs for this pup. This tool is a must have!

wanda: I have a great Pyrenees newfoundlander cross and he has very long hair I have a very hard time brushing him as he hates it this brush did quite well it's more like a pic and I was able to get those big chunks of hair out without hurting him I would definitely recommend this for people with animals that have very long hair

PATH: This is the best mat splitter I’ve ever used on a dog. If your dog needs to have mats removed this tool is the one to use. It cuts through mats easily and there is minimal pulling which would be uncomfortable for the dog.
My cocker developed a mat on her ear flap that I couldn’t remove with brushing or combing. This may splitter cut through the mat with ease, followed by brushing to remove the split coat remnants.
I’m 100% happy with this purchase as is my dog who didn’t have to endure unnecessary and painful tugging with a traditional comb or brush.

Sometimes it's awkward to hold because you can only use it one-way. The movement must be in the direction of the blades and the direction of the fur. If you're not ambidextrous, you have to turn the cat around.
I was able to remove more mats with this than with a flea or grooming comb. However, there is no easy way to remove mats...it takes work.

Angela: Ich persönlich komme anscheinend besser damit klar, wenn die Zinken gerade stehen und nicht, wie bei diesem Modell, seitlich ausgerichtet. Irgendwie sitzt die Katze immer verkehrt herum, der Fellwuschel zeigt in die falsche Richtung oder ich weiß es auch nicht - man kann halt nicht mal eben die Hand wechseln. Kann ein Bedienerfehler sein, weiß ich nicht, aber ich mag meine andere Bürste lieber!
