yaytostuff: I was skeptical buying this. My cat gets matted the second she’s been brushed, and this is the fourth brush I’ve purchased as the first three were inadequate. This thing is insane with how much fluff it can pull out. Have to brush her the same amount, but now she’s virtually mat free and staying that way! The double sided use is helpful too.

ljnljn: My Ragdoll cat was leaving tufts of fur everywhere, despite frequent brushing with a slicker brush and "furminator." I finally took her to a groomer that used this undercoat rake on her. She kindly showed me the product on Amazon so I could do maintenance on her. It really works to get the mats and undercoat out without excessive pulling. The ends are rounded do they do not dig into the skin.

Fairy Goatmother: Using this product on a Great Pyrenees that is a Livestock Protection Dog. The "blades" are thinner than name brand, so snagged painfully on mats and tangles.

We had a name brand that was for a smaller dog. We had to use it first to untangle and demat. The thicker "blades" work better, but it was so small, we switched to this product to keep working the undercoat out.

I wish the "blades" were thicker, so it cut and brushed instead of snagging on the mats. But once we got the burs, and rough patches on the surface done, it did work on the thick undercoat.

If buying this for a pet, probably would work just fine and be all you need. If buying it for an older working dog that runs the hills with his sheep and goats and only gets brushed in the spring to help him get rid of his winter coat, you will need something else to help with the surface mats and tangles. But it does works on the undercoat.

Design is good. If they made the blade just a little thicker it would be perfect.

SURVIVOR: I recommend everyone with pets that have a double or thick coat, to own and utilize this wonderful dematting tool!
Your pets will look and feel so much better. This will eliminate any nasty stickers and or cheat grass, from imbedding into the precious skin of your animal. You'll be their best friend for helping them out of much irritation, pain and suffering that have a matted coat can cause!
I wish I knew about this tool or I would have been using it for twenty years of owning giant dogs. I've always kept my animals brushed well, but just used regular dog brushes, dog combs, dog rakes and furminater types of tools. Nobody ever told me about this tool that is the most effective and fast way to get to that sometimes stubborn undercoat. I just happened to see this on Amazon and thought I'd try it. I couldn't be more pleased. It works like 80 percent better than any of my other tools. Just be gentle with your pets when using this, because it is much sharper and grips the Matted fur very tight, so it will tug your pets skin quite fiercely!
