godiva: If you are assigned this textbook for your next class, not to worry . . . too much, that is. While it *is* pricey, it is well worth the money, which is something I have not been able to say regarding the vast majority of my other required texts—and I'm working on my third degree.
Very well-written and researched, engaging, and impressively balanced. I don't plan on reselling this one when the course ends; it will stay on my bookshelf as a valuable resource.
(My only complaints are that the font/print should be a bit bolder, and . . . if you shell out over $100 for a textbook, it should automatically come with the e-text version and Pearson MyLab features.)

Christine Vernon: The way the text is uploaded it is very frustrating to highlight. In face I’ve abandoned highlighting all together. As well the speech to text option isn’t there. I’m really upset because this was an expensive download and its worse than having a textbook. I’m contacting them sellers. DON’T DOWNLOAD IF YOU ARE HOPING FOR EASE OF USE!!

Jeanette1060: This was bought for one of my Masters Degree Classes. I LOVED the contents of this book! It is easy to understand with plenty of visuals! I did however HATE the fine grey font and the shiney paper which made it very uncomfortable to read. My first book arrived completely separated away from the hard back cover. I received a replacement within 4 days (from Amazon) and returned the original book. However 4 weeks into my 12 week class the second book started to separate away too. This book is very poorly made. Such a pity because the content is fabulous!!

Dr. Joan E. Aitken: This thorough textbook is designed to teach principles of human development from birth to death. With an extensive and up-to-date research base, the book effectively provides an array of information from which anyone can learn. I find myself quoting information from the book on a regular basis because the content is so interesting and useful.
There is solid online support to help students learn the information.
The book's emphasis on professionals in psychology could be better adapted to profesisonals working in special education as one of the helping professions. And whle the authors have a fluent writing style, the print is too small to read easily. The publisher used small print with wide text lines (instead of consistent columns), color behind print for poor contrast, and little white space between lines, which means that the professor who wants to adapt to learners with visual challenges will need to find another book.
Excellent information, which is downright fascinating.
