UPDATE #2::
So I went ahead and kept it, for about a week. When I wrote the first update, I thought I was going to be mailing it back immediately, but I thought I would hold onto it just to see really if it could hold its tension. I can’t. Again like I said, in order to tighten this you must simultaneously push the top bar up at the same time as you hold the bottom or down and towards the bottom service so you’re basically pushing up and down at the same time and then you have to release one point in order to screw the plastic screw, which I supposed to be easier with two people, but I’m usually by myself. Even though I got the tension to get pretty tight by sitting on the backseat to adjust the tension bars, they loosened in 3 days. Best way I can describe this poorly designed item is you would think that like a tension rod, like what...

Warren: Seems to be a solid build but really needs a better mechanism (eg. screw extension) to extend and tighten the upright bars. Unless super tight, floor movement can cause it to fall over. (Tesla model X)

Jeff Wilson: Works well, easy to install. Make sure surface under supports is not slippery.

Ocean girl: After reading several reviews on this and other similar items costing much more, it seemed the complaints were all the same....that the products weren't secure enough to hold a large dog. Some reviews (even on products costing $80 plus) said that it was flimsy and not secure. I decided to go with the cheap one since they all seem the same. I'm very happy with this partition. I installed it myself (woman) and tightened it down as hard as possible and it's great. I have a pitbull and a golden retriever. They are both 7 years old so not super hyper. They have yet to challenge the partition. They know it's there and they just sit in place. Perhaps for younger more active dogs the result could be different but I find the product to be very sturdy. I'm glad I bought it.

rvlady: We have a very active 40 pound Australian Shepherd. We could not keep him from jumping over the rear seat in our GMC Acadia. If we left him in the car for any period of time, he would be at every window and in every seat. Every window was always covered with nose prints. We purchased the Heininger 3048 partition first for its reasonable price, and secondly for the ease of installation.There is also an installation video in the Amazon description. It arrived with good instructions with minimal assembly. Installation behind our second row seating was easy and the fit tight and secure. We had read other reviews and obviously this partition did not work for others because it either was the wrong size for their vehicle, or improperly installed. We would have given this product 5 stars except for one feature. The cross bars extend on each side to adjust for a better fit. However our Aussie took all of 5 minutes to discover he could use his nose to slide the cross bars back to give him access to climb over the seat. We fixed this by adjusting the cross bars to the exact width we needed, and then secured them with small set screws to prevent the bars from sliding. It was...

MatthewMatthew: This is a great pet barrier! I have a 50 pound pit bull that would always try to climb up front with us. Well that can be a problem when you have your kids sitting in the back seat! We bought this pet barrier for a great price and it is really sturdy, easy to set up and install. You do have to make sure everything is tight but that should go without saying. It does it's job perfectly and looks good too. As far as seeing out the rear window, I really find it a non issue. Yeah you can see the bars in the rear view mirror but you can see out of your window just fine. I have added three pictures also to this product and one you can see the view out of the back window. I would recommend this pet barrier to everyone for the great price and great functionality! Amazon does an excellent job of shipping it quickly also!

ccn: I agree with the reviews that had an issue with it’s stability. It’s sort of a temporary solution. The aluminum frame is sturdy and the height adjustments are easily adjusted. But once the dog starts leaning on it, it shifts and moves around. It fell over on her the first time. You cannot tighten the set screw down tight enough to be permanent. Also I’m a little worried about the top ripping my headliner if it’s forced to tightly to the roof.
Fortunately there are work arounds.
I drilled into the frame at the height I needed to make the set screws permanent.
A couple of bungy cords around the back seat head rests keeps it in place.
And a couple of 4 inch squares of thick foam protect the headliner.
All in all after modifications it works fine.
