Jarrad and Tiffany: Perfect for just about anything (probably not eggs, but if you want to try it try be my guest.) These is actually the most used items (we purchased 2) we have in our kitchen. We use this on everything from bacon, to burgers, pork chops, chicken, steaks, anything that doesn't lay flat (which hey, is darn near everything once heat is applied to one side it seems). Bacon comes out cooked evenly and I can get mine crispy all the way from end to end (how I prefer it). Because it keeps the meat in touch with the pan or griddle more, it doesn't seem like I run the chance of scortching part of it while I'm waiting on the rest of it (the part that unfortunately raised up and is still slightly raw) to finish cooking. Seems to help in cooking things much more evenly and in a faster time. As a result food tends to hold more of it's natural juices and we haven't had as many issues of dry meat while waiting on it to thoroughly cook. Highly recommend, especially for the price. I've seen the circular ones in stores... those might be good for hamburgers, but not much else... these are much more versatile, and for a much better price than I've seen in stores.

Benjamin D. Turner: Not completely perfect--the edges aren't smooth due to a small ridge likely from the molding process. The ridge has no impact on use, as it does not in any way affect the bottom face of the press. A quick grind will clean up the ridges if anyone is too picky about details, really.

This said, there's no apparent seasoning done to the presses before arrival, so don't expect to use them right away. I popped the handles off--nice that they use basic phillips screws--and gave both presses a salt scrub and proceeded to dedicate a day to seasoning with filtered bacon fat, a 500F oven, and a cracked window. five cycles in, a nice, smooth, slick surface was well established, and it's improving with use. I store mine without their handles in the oven next to the griddle so as to protect the seasoning, and use them only for bacon for now.

I'm pleased to note that you needn't strip a fouled coat of seasoning or sand the cast iron prior. In the condition that the presses arrive, they'll accept seasoning readily--found mine ready to use for bacon after one cycle, seemed ready and completely non-stick for use on burgers after 3-4--and the handles come off in maybe 30 seconds for...

Adam: Just what i had in mind. Wanted a BBQ weight, I liked the size, and the wood handle. the bottom of these have a small cross hatch pattern, that runs square to the weight. I cleaned, and then seasoned them with two coats of vegetable oil, then put them on the BBQ at just indirect heat, at the lowest setting. Then waited about a half an hour. Then cooked some pork chops with them. GREAT!! did the job perfect, will however need to adjust my cooking times, as these speed things up a little (duh!) but the presentation was spot on, nice deep grill marks, no noticeable marks from the weights at all.

The only reason they are not 5 stars, is the wood handle gets very hot, i know, i know, its sitting in a freaking BBQ!!! but i had looked for a model that would have a "removable" handle, sorta like a grate lifter, but no such luck. These will serve me very well, and would recommend these. i just use my tongs to lift them off the food when flipping.

I will be doing stuffed burgers tonight, and look forward to trying these baby's out

the other reasons i ultimately purchased this one, was:
1) weight was clearly stated
2) dimensions were clear (and rectangle)

Kindle Customer: I bought the top 6 reviewed grill presses on Amazon.com, and used them for several months in a rigorous comparison in my kitchen. This was the second best. The products I compared were:

#1 Best: Kingsford KCA11 Grill Press, Rectangular  Kingsford KCA11 - this grill press has the perfect weight for holding down, but not crushing, grilled sandwiches, sausages, burgers, and bacon. The handle is easy to hold and comfortable. I'm going to buy a few more.

#2: New 8-Inch Barbecue BBQ Grill Steak Weights, Heavy-Weight, Hamburger Bacon Sausage Grill Press, Commercial Grade, Cast Iron  New 8-Inch Barbecue BBQ Grill Steak Weights - this grill press is almost identical to the Kindsford, but is slighly less well made (and two dollars cheaper). I found the edges to be less well finished and the handle to be somewhat poorly fitted to the iron.

#3: Lodge Logic LGP3 Pre-Seasoned Rectangular Cast-Iron Grill Press  Lodge Logic LGP3 - I found this press a little too light weight to properly grill a nice cheese sandwich.
