Doug: I have been a sewer my entire life. But, cutting the fabric patterns has always been a tedious part of the sewing process for me. Apparently I have been using the wrong shears... these Evergreen Super Scissors are a game changer! I breeze through the cutting portion of any project now with ease and speed! What a difference to have sharp shears that fit nicely in my hand without feeling bulky or heavy! I actually hide these shears when they are not in use because I do not intend to share them with anyone. They are worth the price so have fun cutting with these scissors!

Franky Lynn: I never expected to pay $30 for a pair of scissors, but I am sick and tired of scissors that work good for a little while, then deteriorate into a paper weight. I have tried sharpening the cheap scissors, but the edge is never as good as when you bought it and they get dull much quicker, and after a while, the rivet or screw joint gets loose and the scissors become junk. The $30 scissors that I am reviewing is a joy to use, a marvel of efficient cutting of even thick socks. When you use them, the two halves of the scissors move with so little effort that it almost seems magical that they cut as good as they do. The point of the scissors is needle sharp, the scissors are extremely ruggedly built, and are a little heavy compared to other scissors, but they are very comfortable to use. You won't know what I am talking about until you buy a pair. In this case, you truly get what you pay for.

charlene l. wilson: First, I want to say that shears, for me, are one of the most important tools of my trade as a costume designer/stitcher/tailor/seamstress. I have had the same shears, that I loved, for close to 30 years. I was able to keep them so sharp that I affectionately referred to them as my scissors of death, not just because they were so sharp that they could have caused injuries easily, but also because I had made it clear that if I were to catch anyone using them on paper that....well, if you work in any of my fields, you.get it.
Well, after all this time, I had to retire them, and I began to look for something comparable. Before ordering from evergreen, I had ordered several other pair from various companies, including the company from which my OG shears came. They were all less than functional for me.
Then I saw the evergreens on Amazon, and while they seemed like shears that could be used for many purposes, I have to tell you that they are amazing on fabric. I am extremely happy with them, and love them. The rubber coating on the handles is so helpful because they do not slide around while I use them. DataJanitor: Wow. I thought my Case scissors were the best I would ever have. These babies are sharp and solid.

I bought them for sewing and they cut material really well. The small snips are great for trimming threads.

Read the directions. The scissors come with a coating of light oil on the blades, you'll want to carefully wipe off the excess before attempting to use the scissors or the snips on material. On the otherhand, there wasn't a bit of rust or corrosion on the blades.

The large pair feels really comfortable in my (large) hands. I worry a bit about just laying them down on my worktable, because they are so sharp, so I tend to replace the protective plastic cover over the blades. This is true of the little snips too.

I thought the price a bit hefty for scissors, but now that I've seen them, I say they're worth it. Just don't run with them. :-)

Nancy: I needed some new sewing scissors as most of mine disappeared with the kids. I needes some really good quality sewing shears to help me with cutting the fabrics to sew my daughter's wedding dress. These worked really great. Sharp, fantastic all metal construction, rubberized coating on the metal handle to help reduce hand fatigue. They are heavy but not so heavy that it hurts the hands after continious cutting. My daughter wanted to make her dress herself using her favorite colors. She also made her fiances shirt, vest and jacket. These scissors handled every fabric from the satin and lace of her dress to the cotton and leather of his jacket. If i had any wishes to make these scissors better it would be to have a sheath to put them in. The scissors and the free thread snips came in a slightly oily plastic covers. I do not really consider these a proper sheath as those were more for keeping them oiled for storage/shipping. Since these are really decent scissors that I want to keep around a protective sheath is pretty important. In the meantime i have been keeping them in their box.
