Perry: They work. Instructions were useless though. I used them on small 10" x 28" doors and got them to work. If you are using them on anything bigger I would go with something different.

Randy Stanard: I was in need of something QUICK because the locking hinge on my wooden storage chest failed, smacking me in the head. This product offered Same Day Delivery, so I bought.

When you remove it from the package, it looks okay. Hardware, screws, and allan wrench are included.
The instructions look like a terrible grade B movie that was translated from Chinese to English. The written text makes no sense whatsoever. The drawings aren't much better.
If you buy these hinges, search You Tube for guidance. I watched You Tube video and chucked all the instructions.

I might have sent these back if I were not in danger of a concussion from the lid falling on my head again. So, since I had it in hand, I installed and will use these hinges for as long as they last.

The biggest problem is that you cannot get it as tight as you might like with the cheap allan wrench and the allan screw. As I tighted it with the allan the head of the screw and the cheap alan begain to fail. Because of this, I cannot get it any tighter than it is right now. The metal on the allan and the alan bolt head must be made of cheap soft metal.

Janine Mai: As noted by another reviewer, don't think that this is actually a replacement for the Ferrari hinges that Ikea used to use (and which apparently aren't made any longer). None of the measurements are the same - these will NOT fit into the screw holes you already have. OK, drilling a few new holes isn't a big deal. I followed the measuring diagram to the letter, and it is wrong - no way the hinge will operate using these dimensions. The "instructions" make no sense and are no help at all. I gave up on them and used the non-working Ferrari hinge as a guide. I finally got it installed, and it seemed like it would work, until I used the Allen wrench to adjust the tension. At that point, one of the hinge arms came off, the whole locking mechanism fell apart, and the pieces went everywhere. I rounded them all up and tried to put it back together. It's impossible. I don't give up easily, but after 5 hours I'm done. I'm returning it and I'll have to come up with something else. Good luck to you if you buy this piece of junk!

SESE: I messed around with three other types of stay hinges before taking a chance with these - the bottom line, these work - they will keep your lid open, and also allow for a soft close (but not necessarily a controlled close - like with a pneumatic piston). Like others, to start I thought the directions were a bit difficult, I tried to follow them, and in the end just decided to go on my own. I opened my lid to the desired angle, then positioned the hinges (I installed two) so that they would close, ensuring the hinge pivot would be below the top of my box when the lid was closed, and the arm just barely missed the back of the box when the lid was open. I adjusted the tension (a great feature), and it works like a charm - the first hinge took 5 minutes to install as I figured out the placement, the second took 45 seconds. Here's the kicker, when I went back and measured where I installed the hinge and referenced it back to the instructions (with a bit of metric translation from Google), the directions were dead on.
