Chris Kingston: After 17 years one of my springs snapped. From the color code (light blue) the old springs were 90 lbs. I weighed my door to double check -- 96 lbs. I bought these 110 lb springs because I found the old ones slightly too light. But even with adjusting the preload stretch as far as it can possibly go the door is noticeably heavier to lift with these new springs, it will not hold at any point, and it slams closed if im not doing the work myself. Definitely way lighter than the stated 110 lbs. They arrived in a plain box with a small text label on the outside that said 110 lbs, but they don't have the DASMA color painted on the springs themselves so there is no way to verify (not that I would trust that they would use accurate color code at this point). That will teach me to try and save a few bucks instead of ordering through my local hardware store.

Clarence C.: This review applies only to extension springs. Best if you know the part number of the spring for an exact match. If you do not, you either make an educated guess of the door weight or weigh the door. If you do the latter, remember garage door is very heavy. Use pulleys to ease the door to the ground (because you will do that after removing the springs). Remove the old springs before weighing. When buying the springs, match weight of door to the spring rating. If a door is in the down position, use the pulleys to lift the door. When installing the springs, use a C-clamp or a vice grip to prevent the door from a free fall. Lastly you need extensive knowledge to do a proper job. When in doubt, hire a professional.

MooseKnuckle: Same color and weight class, but these do not have the girth of the original springs I replaced. They work fine, but just wonder why they don’t seem as Heavy Duty?
