Dan Hearn: We just returned from a 3000 mile roadtrip thru Texas, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. I bought this cover to protect the Smittybilt winch on our Jeep right before we departed. I put it on in such a way that the cover wraps around the winch, so I didn't even need a bungee cord to secure it. I removed it twice to check the winch after some heavy rain and a little snow, and the winch was bone dry both times. So far it has more than done the job I expected. I can't see into the future and know if some day it might weather or fade, but if it does, I'd replace it with this same model. For the price, I'm surprised at the negativity expressed by some reviewers. It's EIGHT BUCKS people.

Northwest Florida BigDog: Received my winch covers very quickly after ordering them. Thanx! I have two bumper winches for my two 4x4 pickup trucks! The first winch cover was a tight fit, but, I got it on, "very snuggly," and, used three or four bungie cords to cinch the cover on, over the winch so that it doesn't blow off at higher speed highway driving. (This cover went on my Traill FX, 10,000 pound winch, on the front bumper of my 2011 Ram)! My second winch, a Badlands 12,500 pound winch, mounts on the rear trailer hitch of my 2014 Nissan Titan, and, plugs into the power cord plug, newly mounted, and, adjacent to my trailer hitch trailer power plug. I will finish mounting the second cover on this winch in the morning! Preliminary indications tell me that this cover will also be a tight fit, getting it on, but, I will improvise, if necessary, and, use bungie cords to secure the cover on this winch also, if necessary, to keep it from blowing off, at higher driving speeds! Both winch covers are very well made, and, look very professional, classy, and, durable!

Dennis M.Dennis M.: It's fits on a 12,000# Harbor Freight Tools (Badland) winch. It has some play left over. No big deal. It's the second one in two years (25- 27 months) as sun light will ruin it in about 1-1/2 - 2 years, but it's less than $15. It will crack and fade in color. The more costly ones would be ruin in color, but may not crack, but would turn in color.too. I like how it fits and stays a deep black color. Jeep is white with black accents. The winch stays completely dry all the time, regardless of what the weather or terrain is. It fits really snug while has a little room left over. Don't know what else to say to less than $15, but I'll get another one in about 20 - 24 months later, unless someone gets me a different one for birthday, father's day, etc. It comes off and on fairly easy I can't believe I have written this much for a $15 product...Just get it.

SD1000: The companies performance was as good as I could ask for. More importantly, this item performs extremely well regardless of price, and is a fantastic value because of the price. The seams are well constructed, the elastic is strong, the fit is perfect. It stays in place on my HF 12,000 lb winch at highway speeds. The only negative that I can find is that if I hold it up to the light, there are some tiny specks of light in quite a few places. I doubt water will flow in, but it still shows some imperfection. To ensure complete dryness, I did place a heavy duty trash bag over the winch before I added this cover. The bag is completely invisible. I don't think the trash bag is necessary. With so many other reviewers saying that the material will become sun damaged very quickly, I can only say it's too early for me to comment. If it lasts 6 months, it will be worth the cost to me. Though that short lifespan would be unfortunate, I'll try to keep some UV spray on it frequently to see if I can lengthen its life.

Mark: My winch isn't enclosed on the vehicle but on a carrier inserted into a receiver so when I take it along it is completely exposed. This looked like a great buy and gave it a shot. On a 9-day trip from Arizona to Canyonlands/The Maze in Utah it worked well. The elastic made it easy to install/remove. Sure some silty dust got through from below, but that was due to how the winch is mounted in the cradle than the fault of the cover.
Of course I don't expect it to last forever, especially how elastic breaks down in the heat Arizona, but it was well worth the money.
