Heavy-Duty Bass Guitar Gig Bag: Protect Your Instrument On the Go

Nexus One: This is a very good gig bag for the price. I have a home made bass that is on the longer side (about the size of a jazz bass) and didn't fit in my other bass gig bag. It fits great in the one.
The padding is substantial and the zippers seem fine so far. I like the backpack straps and multiple carrying handles. The color is attractive. The pockets are fine, I don't love putting a cable in the neck pockets but probably a matter of personal preference.
The neck block on the case is a good idea but the Velcro to attach it is flimsy and it tends to fall off. I end up not really using it but I might for a longer trip.
Again great value for such a low price.

Oleran: I already have two of these gig bags and love them for safe storage. I just got my 3rd and easily put a Schecter Elite 5 in it. While researching gig bags online I looked for reviews that mentioned the basses that "fit" inside them. These bass bags will comfortably hold just about any body / peg head shape (fender shapes as well) The Hola bags are, in my opinion, medium weight, not simply a bag with a bit of padding, yet not a heavy "constant transport" bag. If you handle your instrument with care, this bag will serve your needs. The insides are well padded, with an adjustable (via velcro) neck rest. The zippers seem to be of decent quality, The pockets are well sized and the whole bag is reinforced in the proper areas. This bag is well designed, of good manufacture and packaging... all for a good price! I'm ordering another when I finish this review.

with this one...

15mm padding (many in this price range get 10mm or less)

padded handles on the side and front of the bag (many in this range only have the side handle)

lightly padded backpack straps (i've seen a far few that even go above this price range with the simple unpadded strap with a sliding rubber "pad")

2 ok sized pockets... these are probably where this does compare with other options in this price range... i've seen plenty with thinner and/or fewer pockets and some with larger and sometimes more pockets but always just basic pockets with no extra features like pen loops or cable straps (those extras are usually left to the more premium bags)

and a neck support with a velcro strap... in my opinion this is one of the top points for this bag, the combination of the two keeps the neck from moving side to side in the bag and keeps your tuners from hitting the side and back of the bag so not only is your neck and headstock better protected, but your bass or guitar is more likely to still be in tune when you pull it out of the...

I've provided photos of the Hola bag vs the bag that my bass came in. In each photo you can see how much thicker and well-padded the Hola bag is. The side padding is close to an inch thick providing good protection and lends support and some rigidity to the bag. It is still pliable and has some give but as you can see it is supported well enough to be able to stand on its own without the guitar in it. There is a pad to support the neck and velcro straps to secure the neck in place, two roomy exterior zipped pockets to hold music and accessories, two comfy padded handles (on on the face and one on the side of the case) and padded straps on the back to carry it backpack style. It also has a sturdy baseplate for the bag to stand on when it is upright. My bass fits easily in to the Hola bag but I couldn't even zip the zipper on the Fender bag the bass came in because it was too short! I had planned on buying a hard case and still may for travel but I am so pleased with this gig bag that I'm in no rush to do so now. This is all I need to get my bass back and...

chanterelle: I got my daugher an Ibanez mini bass for her birthday but it came with a very flimsy gig bag. After some measurements, searching, and after scouring numerous reviews, I bought this one and we are both very happy with it! Her instrument fits with an inch or two to spare lengthwise. The width is just right. The bag contains a velcro-affixed supportive pillow for the neck, and a velcro strap to keep the instrument stable. The padding seems plush compared to most I've seen. The two pockets will accomodate picks, cords, and a sheet music folder or a tablet. Rolling up the strap and fitting it in took a few tries to keep it off the strings, but she managed to snug it under the neck. This bag is a great value, and Hola Music delivered it 2 days before it's scheduled date. They also do a great job sending updates to make sure we didn't miss the shipment. I'd definitely shop with them again.
