I bought this to skin game & furbearers and to remove as much tissue as possible from skulls prior to cleaning them. I saw a professional using a similar knife to do the same and thought it would eliminate the constant resharpening that goes with conventional blades. For skinning, one blade lasts a long time. If it’s used on joints or makes much contact with bone, it’ll be time to change the blade soon after. It goes without saying that scalpel blades weren’t intended to cut bone, but it happens. The knife is well-made and the included blade changing tool makes changing the blades safe & simple.

josh: dont be like me and order the blade change tool this comes with it. The blades are realy sharp, i tried using it on some hard plastic packaging and it worked well, the tool takes the sketchyness out of changing the scapal shape blades. This is going in my hunting pack, i honestly thing this would be the perfect knife for small game, fowl and so on for a few reasons, and possibly deer. i purchased this after watching some youtube videos, i was a huge skeptic of the concept, compared to a blocky prettier hunting, bushcraft knife, i dont regret the buy at all.
1: The knife with sheath, extra blade and tool is very light.
2: it is compact
3: no more caked on blood, fat, or membrane, just change the blade
4: Sterile blade packaging
5: very grippy handle
6: ergonomically balanced in the hand, although it is lightweight
7: I already carry a stubby bone saw, and pocket knife with a backbone, this does what they cant.
downfalls
1: no back bone
2: cant hack, wack or throw.

Brian: I put a lot of time in actually reading people's reviews before I purchased this knife. I was concerned by one review, even though it wasn't a verified purchase, where the user had issues while cutting up a deer. I put this knife to work in the field this year and my experience was nothing but positive. I own and have used knives from Browning, Remington, Gerber, Buck, and Benchmade, and I can tell you that this knife performed as well or better than all of them. I was able to skin and quarter 2 different deer this year, both times I only used one blade. I chose to change blades after I cut up the first deer because I was cleaning up my knife and felt like I should change blades so that it wasn't something I would run into while taking care of a deer later in the hunt. It's easy to change blades and I never felt like I was doing anything dangerous or would end up cutting myself in the process. My only complaint, that was while cutting up and packaging the meat, the blade was shorter that I would have preferred. After using this knife, I bought the Havalon Baracuta for the longer blades. I used the fillet knife for cutting a roast up into stew meat and jerky. I've been very...

Lance Atwood: I used this knife on a recent hunting trip with my brother. He was very impressed and so was I. It's a great skinning knife. Always so sharp we field dressed our game with one blade then we processed it with another. Never once did we have to stop in the field or at home to sharpen the blade as in the past with our old hunting knives. This will lighten my pack up a ton because I won't have to carry 2 knives and a sharpening stone. Plus when your done the knife cleans up very easily and you can dispose of the dull blade and have another surgically sharp blade on in seconds. Not that this needs to be said bit I'll say it anyway "just be careful it will cut you or someone else and you won't even know it" I learned the hard way. But nothing serious just nicked my finger but I thought it was from something else until I washed my hands. But I'm recommending this knife to everyone I know that is a hunter.
