Michael Shorb: Really cool coffee maker. We saw this in Starbucks in Chicago and really wanted to buy it but didn't want to haul it back to FL in our suite case. Found it on Amazing and we love it. Makes some really tasty coffee. Recommend using a sterno and not the alcohol burner it comes with. The sterno burns cleaner and doesn't turn the base black.
Super cool to watch it brew. Our Granddaughter thinks it's cool. I think we found a new gift to buy people for Christmas.

Donald CopelandDonald Copeland: An excellent product to produce smooth and rich coffee. As other have said, the burner that comes with it is pretty worthless. Butane burners work great but butane is exponentially more expensive than natural gas. I did a simple modification that allows me to use my gas stove. Basically, just unscrew the bottom stand and flip it around. Then I just added a couple rubber grips on the bottom to prevent sliding. Enjoy!

velez: I visited a tea bar in Ukraine many years ago in which they used these to brew tea at each table. I finally got one, and I love it! I use Nanoprotect Bioethanol 96.6% with the included burner and my tea brews within 20 minutes with room-temperature water. It obviously brews faster when starting with warmer water. Not my top choice for brewing coffee, but I’m a coffee aficionado who loves strong coffee.

Kin Goku Kai: Just received the Hario Next Siphon Brewing system and it comes with this re-usable metal mesh filter. It has this strong rubber odor coming from the factory. So I disassembled it to give it a thorough cleaning. I must've forgot how to put it back together correctly. Apparently, I made a grave mistake by facing the black ring band down with "Made Japan" on after putting the pieces together. I put the filter in the upper chamber and turn on the butane burner. The water boils and shoots up and it popped the mesh lid off. I put it back in the wrong side with the "Made in Japan" facing down again! It popped the mesh off! So I came here to see what I did wrong with the assembly. Apparently, "Made in Japan" on the black rubber ring is supposed to be facing up when putting the mesh lid and the wire hook to the piece together. So I quickly fix the embarrassing error. I will try it again tomorrow morning to brew the coffee with this metal filter mesh!

It worked great with the traditional cloth filter that it also comes with in the package.

Update: the metal mesh filter doesn’t keep the water up on the upper chamber long enough even though the butane fire is still on. It’s...

Paul W. Richardson: My wife and I truly enjoy not only the coffee this Glass Syphon makes, but also the process of making it! On Saturdays, we make coffee with the Syphon and espresso with our Moka pot. The aromas from the freshly ground beans and the steaming coffee from these two machines is amazing! Sure, it takes a little more effort than using the KitchenAid, but it simply adds a little joy to our lives.

You'll discover there is both art and science to this Syphon, and you'll have fun experimenting with the coffee and water ratios you decide best for you. I found I needed a little more coffee that I would have thought required to brew 500, so keep that in mind when making your first batch if you prefer your coffee a little darker.

We opted for the Yama Mini Butane Burner for Tabletop Siphons available from Amazon for $41.99, and I'm truly pleased with this addition. I cannot comment on the burner that came with the Siphon; I simply didn't want to mess with the alcohol. We also purchased some extra Hario Siphon Cloth Coffee Filters, but we have not used any yet. I've rinsed and scrubbed the same cloth filter a few times and it seems just fine.

Jc benja: Fascinado con esta cafetera, al principio pensé que era algo lenta su forma de hacer el café pero me di cuenta que este proceso hace que el café sepa realmente delicioso porque como el agua no hierve con el cafe sino aparte, solo sube el agua en forma de vapor lo que hace que el café vaya soltando su sabor poco a poco a diferencia de las cafetera que hacen café espresso de estufa que tan pronto hierve el agua sube al cafe pasando muy rápido sin dejar que suelte su sabor.
Ademas algunas recomendaciones del mismo producto te sugieren que compres un mechero de otra marca y no usar el que ya viene incluido solo porque el de la otra marca haría el proceso mas rápido pero esto le cambia el sabor al cafe porque hace lo mismo que las cafeteras para cafe espresso, lo que yo hice fue usar alcohol de tapa roja que tiene un poco mas de grados que el de la tapa azul, y esto hace que la flama del mechero sea más intensa pero la verdad me quede con el alcohol de tapa azul porque hace el proceso más lento y el sabor del café cambia, claro que como en otros comentarios te recomiendan calentar el agua en la estufa antes de ponerlo en la cafetera y esto hace el proceso mas rápido, por...
