Seiko: This is a really good hiking stick - absolutely solid and provides invaluable support for hiking. No sign whatsoever of flex or give with this hickory stick, even when I put a lot of weight on it. However, this stick is on the heavier side, one notices this after several hours of hiking - just switch hands! The heavier weight is more than compensated for the rock solid support that it provides. I wouldn't recommend this stick for someone looking for a more lightweight stick though.

Mike21514: This 48" Ironwood hiking stick is terrific. It looks great, has a couple of small bends that do not affect functionality and, instead, give it character. I was afraid that it would be too heavy for hiking, but it is perfect. Thank you!

Peter HenselPeter Hensel: Ironwood! Not lightweight flimsy like some walking sticks. Cut from Ironwood saplings then dried . Strong enough to support your weight over challenging terrain. Grip width is ample to fully wrap hands around for secure hold.

Robert Brown: These are made in the US of local materials and each is unique. Longer than many walking sticks and equipped with a non-skid tip. The extra length makes sure you get good support at the right level without bending over. Mine is twisted sassafras. The grip is not the best. I'd prefer, and plan to install, either a rawhide wrap or marine grade cordage for a better non-slip grip. The thong looks nice but is useless.

Paula J: I love my hickory walking stick. It is sturdy and strong, providing good support while at the same time, being light and easy to carry. Because it is basic without any fancy retractable parts, I don't have to worry about malfunction. I am 5'1.75" tall and it is perfect for my height, neither too short nor too tall. It is well made and lovely to look at with natural coloring. The surface is smooth and comfortable to hold. I consider it well worth the purchase price.

Ninja: I bought the 55 inch Hawthorn staff. Originally I gave it 3 stars and increased the rating to 4 stars.

I disappointed at first. The only reason is that a friend of mine has a walking stick of a different brand and it is so much nicer. His also has a nice grip for the hand.

This walking stick is lighter than I would have liked. I prefer a heavier stick. Also I am not fond of the metal icon they put on the stick. It is just a matter of preference and I just don't want my walking stick to look have a logo.
That aside the stick has grown on me. I like it. I love the feel and the texture of the walking stick, and it puts me at ease when I hold it.
So a solid four stars....
I think the company should lose the metal icon and start putting some hand grips of these.
Just my opinion
...Also I had no idea what the weight of the walking stick would be because I ordered online.
One thing to note is that they sent this stick by delivery and not by Canada post. Guess I am Lucky nobody stole it when it was left outside my door.

Janine: Lovely, smooth wood. Quality product. The stick is the perfect height. Very happy with it. There was one minor problem which was quickly dealt with by the seller. Very easy to deal with.
