Fred in NCFred in NC: We have been brewing our coffee for several years with the black Hamilton Beach FlexBrew in the picture. It still works perfectly! I saw the red one in the Web site, and my wife loves RED appliances. So we now have two! I use ground coffee, and wife likes caramel pods. The old brewer made excellent coffee both ways, and was easy to use and keep clean. The new? Same results, plus it has a setting for bold brew. It really works! I use a bit less coffee grounds, and the flavor is wonderful. The old black brewer has been cleaned and is there standing by. Wife likes the red, so much that we now have a red Hamilton Beach can opener too.

Wolfeyes6: I got it as open box, good quality.

K. McHugh: Likes: it can brew from k-pods AND ground coffee; can accommodate larger mugs/thermoses for up to 14 oz size; it's RED (I wanted a red coffee pot); very reasonably priced.
Dislikes: would be nice to have a removable water reservoir so you don't have to refill for every cup; slower to brew per cup than other more expensive single-serve coffee makers; larger foot-print than many other single-serve coffee makers.
Summary: the dislikes were not deal-breakers for me. Maybe you don't want this if you entertain a lot and everyone wants coffee. As far as reliability, I will update this post if that status changes.

Randal B.: Makes a good cup of coffee, maximum of 14 ounces.
I have made coffee from K-cups and the included loose coffee pod. Both methods were acceptable with K-cups better than the loose coffee pod. I have made hot chocolate (Swiss Miss) which was also very good. I have yet to make tea.
The only thing that disappoints is the elevated cup holder for coffee cups as opposed to tall travel cups is also intended for storage of the loose coffee pod. This is too small to hold the loose coffee pod without rocking and I hate that. I have resolved this problem by removing the offending pod and placing in my canister of loose coffee. This is a definciency that I can live with and I would buy the Hamilton Beach single serve coffee machine again.

Deeje: This coffee maker is pretty decent. It takes a long time to heat the water, and I don’t like that it has no reservoir- you just pour in the amount of water you want for a single cup - but on the bright side I’ve been using it at work for about six months and it’s still going strong. Compared to Keurig machines, that’s impressive. I had to throw away 3 of them in a single year, one of which died while brewing its very first cup of coffee. So if this machine lasts a year or more it will probably be my go to travel option, as it’s cheap to replace. As for the coffee, it’s just right.

Deneve: Expected better based on reviews, but this machine is not great.
First, it's loud when brewing. Annoyingly so. Luckily it brews quickly so the irritation is short-lived, but when you are prepping a cup at 5am, it's just awesome to wake up the rest of the house with the racket. My dog also tilted her head with her ears perked up as if to say, "wtf is all this noise coming from the counter?"
Second, the coffee grounds are not fully soaked when I empty the basket. I find most of the grounds are as dry as when I scooped them in before brewing. Some are wet as you'd expect, but most are not. Feels like an absolute waste of coffee.
Third, emptying the basket of grounds is a pain in the butt. Since the grounds are half dry and half wet, you need a spoon to scoop it out and it's all clumped together.
Fourth, the coffee taste. Using one scoop (as I had done previously with my other Hamilton Beach) results in a weak flavour. So I need to use twice as much coffee as I had to get a semblance of the same taste. Also, I don't know where the water goes, but 14 oz somehow gives me less coffee then my previous machine did. It would account for the half dry grounds that the water...

Cliente de Kindle: Funciona bien para 1 sola persona pero con el inconveniente de que hay que recalentar el café por fuera. A veces gotea poquito después de terminar el servicio y queda sucia la bandeja

Matt Danskine: I looked at this kind of coffee maker for a while before buying this one. My wife and I live in a travel trailer full-time going from New Bern, NC to Palm Springs, CA over about 6 months. I had some pretty specific requirements, that many people also share, but a few specific to using this in an RV.

1. Size - This thing looks and sounds like it hardly takes any space on your counter. Not quite. It's really not that much smaller than a typical coffee pot. Definitely a lot bigger than the K-brand tiny ones. I think the other features this one offers make it little extra size worth it though.

2. Flavor - I'm not a person who understands 100 different nuances of coffee. I like coffee, I drink it black and I like it to taste good. This pot hits all my requirements. It makes a decently dark cup of coffee and it does it consistently.

3. Brew Amount - A lot of this type of coffee maker have a button you hit to brew one size of cup or another size. Reading reviews of them, the amounts that come out vary a lot, meaning they brew on a timer. That seems stupid to me. This coffee maker has a reservoir you put water in. You hit the button, it brews until it runs out of...

Cheryl on the island: I had an older Keurig. It was wonderful, so versatile. One pod insert which worked for all brands of pods & also the generic holders for loose coffee. The new Keurigs are much more restrictive. You can only use Kuerig pods. It comes with a Kuerig holder to put loose coffee in. But it's a different insert & it's a chore of twisting & turning to change inserts. So I returned it, got this one. Big difference. This one tends to be a little fussy in some aspects, you have to work with it for awhile, it takes longer to brew, etc. BUT you can use all pod brands, including the Superstore/Loblaw brands which are cheaper (big deal for me) & I can also use the generic pod holders for loose coffee that I did in my old Keurig. It does come with it's own interchangeable insert for loose coffee but simple to switch one for the other. No struggling. I prefer my generic pod holder, but if you like really strong coffee you may want to use the HB insert for that. That depends upon what brand of coffee you are using also. I like fairly strong coffee, & I can get that with the generic pod holder & some brands. On the whole, I'm happy with this machine.
