MB: I ordered this with great hope. But it does not catch any hair at all, the design allows water to drain at the top of the pop up drain so completely avoiding the catcher parts.

Sally Owens: We have a very tall pop-up style drain and this fits really well around it. I have long hair and it seems to catch most of it. I can tell that a few strands slip through, but overall I'm really happy with it.

Ron Watson: The media could not be loaded.  First, I’m the #1 most suspicious person when I read glowing reviews. I’m sure the company wrote them themselves. There’s got to be something wrong - it can’t be all good. And I almost never take the time to write a review myself. But I don’t need to buy any more of these for a while (so durable!) so I wanted to do something to express my very real feelings about them.

My whole hairy family moved into a house built in 1998, with the silly drains that pop up but don’t allow a hair trap. We were facing $1,000’s with a plumber to change all the drains, or have to snake them all the time - such a pain and bad for the pipes. I was stressing every time I took a shower, trying to catch my hair before it got to the drain. I was seriously sketching ideas to invent something myself!

I enlisted my husbands help on this project and he ordered a couple things he found on Amazon. This Hairbine (what does that mean?) thing was far and away the best.

campbell6: I tried these for sinks, showers and tub. They did not work. In the sink they slowed the water so much that it took forever to clear. It would work fine for children who drip small items in the sink.
In the tub they didn't catch any hair.
In the shower it caught very little hair. I have long hair and I always lose a bunch. I had to go back to my old method. I have spent lots of money looking for items that would do this job. I did finally find a simple flat rubber edged stainless screen about 5 inches across at Walmart. It has worked perfectly.

AK: Ethnically being predisposed to straight and thick hair, showers have long since been a battle ground. I’ve been told that I shed like a Siberian husky to which my response is a battle worn “I know.”

And I know all the problems that accompany attempts at a solution that don’t involve a whole lotta gross.

First what led me to pick a pop up drain compatible hair catcher..
- The pop up drain stopper is not removable
The old school method of sucking it up and unscrewing the stopper and removing the caught hair with all the protection of a tissue or paper towel.
I have no clue who thought it would be a good idea to install a drain that doesn’t disassemble. It’s a rental so I can’t fix it. Yes, these situations exist in a place called hell.

-Slow drain that gradually progresses to no drain.
Where as normal disassembly and cleaning would solve the issue, this is not an option. Even if it were, better methods exist now. This wondrous creation has not missed a single hair to date.

-Hair catchers with suction cups or no sort of stabilization mechanism.
