Mustang Sally: This was purchased for my 29 gallon crabitat.

I received a product that appears to have been returned. There were finger prints all over the glass. However, I understand why: It is challenging to assemble, did not initially fit squarely onto inner rim, and it required fine tuning.

The plastic pieces that join the two halves of the glass down the middle were too long by about 1/16", so I used a rough emory board to file them down.

To assemble the glass into the tracks of the joining piece, you MUST lubricate the inside of each track.

I dipped Qtips in vegetable oil and ran it along BOTH sides of the track (after pulling the front piece of glass out). This allowed me to slide each section of glass in from the end of the track, snugging it in as I went along. The back, flexible piece did not require lubricating.

I then dry-fit the assembled top, making adjustments to the position of the glass and track, and marking where to add cut-outs for my air hose and thermometer probe wire.

I cut the back plastic piece with a box cutter blade (not the neatest look, but that's all I had). It would be great if you had something to melt a clean hole...

SLPkellie: The media could not be loaded.  I got this lid to keep moisture in and create humidity for my crabs. I have to lift the lid every now and then to try and balance it out as it is very good at keeping the moisture inside. Sometimes I prop it open with a small silicon spoon I have. Overall I’m very happy as the method I was using before I just wasn’t keeping things humid enough. I like that the back is easy to cut for filters and wires or whatever you need to go into your tank. It worked for my Petco 20 gallon long aquarium.

Jaden BrownJaden Brown: The product came packaged well and in great condition. Seems sturdy and obviously the glass is very clear, my only complaint is that it fit my old 20 gallon long aquarium a tad snug but pretty much perfect. I figured the aquatic brands made pretty much exact same dimensions for the tanks but I guess not. This lid is about 3/8s of an inch too long for my new Top Fin 20 gallon long tank and I will have to try to find a way to cut it because returning is almost never worth it.

C: Easy to attach back portion if you do it right. These reviews had me worried! It doesn't SLIDE on it PUSHES on. It honestly cannot be made any easier. You literally just push the two pieces together. Done in 10 seconds. Back plastic piece is a little flimsy but it makes it easy to cut (I was able to use kitchen scissors). I am using lid clips as my tank does not have an inner rim portion.

Note about cats: Will not support cat's weight unless the clips are directly under the fold point of the lid. Even then it is a bit risky. It tends to want to fold in on itself. Additionally, if the cats step on the back portion, their weight will bend the plastic.

Michaela PierceyMichaela Piercey: Was very hard to get the back piece on but finally did, (I used water conditioner to oil it so I could get it on) cut out the area where my filter and heater went, my sponge pump hose fit in perfectly.

Comes with two latches to pull it up!
Overall love this.. although it was very hard to put the back on

CrimsonSilverCrimsonSilver: After comparing the price and quality of brand name plastic tank covers against this tempered glass cover I decided to go with this. Not only is it more then half the cost I don't have to worry about little cheap plastic lids breaking and the glass is more sophisticated of a look. I already had one of the light bars that sit across the tank and this sits perfectly under the light.

Like others have noted there is one assembly required, that plastic backing which may be cut to size to fit the filter and heater.

Okay two things here, the plastic is crazy hard to get on unless you figure out the trick. There is a technique to fit it on and keep in mind there are no instructions or tips included. It's hard to explain over text and a video actually would be nice, but I'll try explaining. Instead of just trying to push or slide the plastic on the glass (which is hell) you can wiggle it at an angle and it slides on rather quickly.
