Janay Clark: Not really the maker's fault but I purchased this in 2018 when my sister was 7 and we put it together in about 30 mins but it didn't come with instructions and we were not sure how exactly how to work it and looked at nothing it was completely black we finally figured it out this past month and now she loves it! Would recommend it but only if you know how to work them or are willing to take the time to learn/

TDH: Over the past few years, my next door neighbors have been having large parties in their back yard (about a quarter mile away) and the noise is incessant, obnoxious, and constant. The parties occurred about every week. The problem was that for the life of me I could see exactly what they were doing or take photos to document the situation and whenever I would ask them they would deny that anything was going on at all, claiming in fact that they weren't even at home most of the time. Finally I decided to prove it, using this telescope to take photos and ask once more for them to stop before contacting local authorities. What I saw with this phenomenal piece of hardware was shocking. At 5:00pm Tuesday night (their usual time) I was ready. I focused on the house and noted that their car wasn't in the driveway, which seemed odd, and I questioned whether they would keep routine, but then I noticed movement in the back and focusing in I saw the weirdest thing I have seen in my life. 80 or 90 fat, short, hairy dudes were emerging from the forest at the edge of their yard, all dressed like those little cherubs from that old art period. Well anyway, these little sucker come rushing up and...

JCJC: This was the first Gskyer 70mm I purchased and will use for educational purposes. I purchased a second for personal use as a grab-n-go set.

The eyepieces are a very good value and the optics are excellent. There is some color (chromatic aberration - CA) around some of the brighter objects (like Mars in the photo), but the moon had little color. The kit has everything one needs to learn to use telescope gear - a finder scope, an Alt-Az tripod with tray, a diagonal, a 2x Barlow, and 2 eyepieces. It comes with a storage bag.

The rack-and-pinion focuser works well and even has a locking screw. The 2 included eyepieces are very solid, and the picture I took using my iPhone 6s of the moon and Mars use the 10mm. I could barely make out some of the bands in Jupiter, but in better seeing conditions, the 10mm should show the bands in Jupiter.

I use a lot of my other astronomy equipment with this set, and they work fine with it.

Pepa M.: Buen material y el costo es bastante accesible. El único pero que le pongo es que el instructivo debería de venir al menos en inglés y quizás con algunos consejos para principiantes ya que en canales de internet no se encuentra mucho sobre este modelo. Llego a tiempo y bien empacado.

TLWebster: Update! I am revising my original review from 3 to 5 stars. We initially had an issue with the locking mechanism for the tilt function and the scope would not stay upright whenever we tilted it toward the sky. I'm embarrassed to admit that it was user error and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I assembled it in a matter of minutes with the help of my adult son (the scope was a birthday gift for his 10 year old), but we both couldn't get the scope to stay locked in place. My husband took a look at it and all he did was turn the long handle clockwise and the problem was fixed. Before he did that my son and I were only gripping the handle to move the scope side to side and up and down. Embarrassingly, neither of us thought to turn the darn thing. Ugh! The look on my husband's face was classic. Anyway, I had to share this story and update my original review so I don't skew the reviews in a bad way. The optics are great, it was easy to assemble, and it seems to be well made. In a nutshell, for a $99 entry level telescope this thing is perfect for a 10 year old who loves to look at the stars. Now all we need is a clear night.

Ness: Llego a tiempo y los materiales del que están hechos son buenos, obvio no se ven los objetos como en el hubble pero es un buen producto

A. Long: Admittedly, I'm not a pro when it comes to telescope. I am, at best, a casual amateur. So, my review is made through that viewpoint. That said, this telescope seems like a very good value. It feels well put together. It doesn't feel heavy duty, but it feels well enough made that it's not going to suddenly fall apart. The image it produces is good. It cakes with a 10mm and 25mm eyepiece, both of which come in separate hard cases. The tripod mount is not the best, but it is aluminum and serves the purpose. The screw mount is standard, so any camera tripod would serve as an adequate replacement. The soft case is pretty cheap, but for storage it is fine. I don't think I'd want to trek through the woods and rely on that case to protect the telescope though.

I bought this principally to view the upcomng Aug 21, 2017 solar eclipse. I purchased the Gosky 120mm solar filter to use with this telescope, and it fits great.

Overall, I'm pleased with this purchase and feel this telescope provides a good price/performance ratio for the amateur observer.
