Brent V: I don't know anything about astronomy and what features to look for in a telescope. But my family has had fun playing with the ToyerBee telescope. Assembly was easy enough because of the clear directions and there's enough information provided to get started. But you'll probably want to browse the internet for tips and tricks for beginner telescope usage. We found it best to start looking at terrestrial objects during the day to learn the basics before trying stargazing which is much more difficult. When you do start looking into the sky, use one of those augmented reality stargazing apps on your phone to find the general locations of heavenly bodies.
I like that it came with a phone holder. It's much easier for kids to see images looking at the phone screen although you do lose some of the clarity you get looking directly through the lens. If you have an old phone sitting around, use it with the telescope.
I wish the included stand was larger. It's nearly impossible to use the spotter's scope unless you put it on a table, rock, or something elevated. So that makes stargazing somewhere remote (which gives you the best views) more difficult because you have to find...

J Cas: Bought this as a present for my 7 yr old who is really into planets and loves Jupiter. So far we have only tinkered with it once. It's a very basic item and had no luck being able to focus in on any stars or planets, possibly because of an excess of light where we were located. Going to try again this coming weekend. Overall pretty easy to assemble and operate. Excited to try out the phone adapter as well as spotting the moon. We were able to view a few distant radio towers which blew my kids minds.
Overall really happy with it and hoping this is the first of many more to come with her interest in space.

Joely S.Joely S.: I got this for my birthday and it was super easy to put together. I am so glad I have a telescope now to see the moon from my balcony. The only reason I would give this 4 stars is because the phone mount doesn't hold my phone in place. I am able to hold my phone up to the viewfinder however and get these wonderful photos that I attached so it's not a huge problem.

drackett77: We've played with this some and so far it's been a great addition to our evenings! Everyone in our family is new to astronomy so this was a great way to get into it without spending a ton of money on a fancy and expensive telescope. We can get amazing views of the moon and are learning how to better view planets and stars. The included Barlow lenses are a really nice addition that many telescopes in this price range don't have. The Barlow lenses were a prerequisite for anything that we were going to order due to HOPING to see the rings around Saturn as we get better with viewing and focusing this telescope. We aren't there yet, but I imagine it will happen soon. Stability is the key to this so we set it on the ground and lay down to use it. (Very short tripod, but we knew that when we purchased it.)
At some point I'm going to design a 3D printed mount for a Raspberry Pi camera that we can put over the lens, so we can view the images on a monitor instead of through the eyepiece. This should allow everyone to look at the images making it more family friendly.
Please note that the eye piece on this telescope is NOT a standard size. One review says it's a 1.25", but it is...
