Get the job done quickly and efficiently with the GreenWorks 40V 12-Inch Cordless Chainsaw!Kiteboarder in NJ: I bought this saw and loved it. Then one day it poured black smoke out of it after only running ten minutes. I bought another as I loved it. Green works replaced the 12” saw with a 16” saw as they were out of stock. Well the 16, on it first run works for 10 seconds and shuts. Leave it be for a few minutes and it will work for another ten seconds. Only OEM batteries ever. I will be calling and seeing what they can do.

Kurt A. Greiner:
I bought this little chainsaw because I already had other tools in the system, and thought I would take a chance with it - I figured it would help with pruning at the least.
Previously I had used a corded chainsaw, so I thought that not having to drag that behind the unit would be a real benefit, and it is. I had a chance to use it a lot for the past 3 days, as we had the most snow I've seen in 18 years at my home in the foothills of the Sierra, which did a lot of damage to my Evergreens. It ran like a trooper, cutting smoothly and with enough power to cut 6" branches with ease. I generated about 20 cubic yards of waste (did I mention these were big ones!) and it handled this resinous wood with easy; I did give it a thorough cleaning at the end of each day, to remove the buildup of chips and resin. The saw does have a lot of internal nooks and crannies to catch all that, so an acid brush and a pick helped with that.
Battery life was great - the first day, I used about 25%, the second 50% and the third 25%, and this with a four year old 4.0 Ah battery.
You do need to be diligent about keep the oil filled, as it seems to use a bit...

Kelly C: My father and I are really impressed with the power of this chainsaw. He actually laughed at me when I first showed him and told him it was electric. But we put it to use on some fairly large limbs (some about 6 - 8 inches in diameter) and this chain saw cut through with little effort. I love that it is light weight for me and my dad. (I’m 5’1 115lb woman, and my dad is 73 yrs old…although 70 seems to be the new 60). The chainsaw is easy to use, considering neither of us ever used a chain saw before. Just make sure you put the oil in. I would definitely recommend. I think we were out there for an hour cutting limbs, and the chainsaw still had plenty of power left.

K. Franz:
58 year old female, first time chain saw user here.
I have two acres, fenced, with trees surrounding it. After a storm, it’s inevitable that branches or a limb are going to end up on the fence, or in the yard. The snow/ice storm we had in early December, dropped a tree limb on one of the fence sections. I can’t afford to hire someone every time this happens, so I bought this little saw. It’s completely assembled, and very easy to use. I bought the battery separately, and then had to buy the charger separately too, which I didn’t realize. So keep that in mind. The battery was fully charged in about two hours. Locks into place easily. Filled it with oil, easily too. My one issue is that the oil level “window” is white, rather than clear, which makes it difficult to see the oil level.
The saw starts and operates by pressing and holding a lever back with your index finger, while pressing down with your thumb on a safety button on top. I really like this feature. It stops immediately if your thumb comes off the safety button! The saw is light weight, and the blade length is perfect. Not unwieldy at all.
It cut through the fallen tree limbs quite...

joe deihl: I use three other Greenworks tools. Nice and quiet no gas or oil to mess with. If you’re a lumberjack not for you, small storm damage or smaller trees to clean up works well. I have three batteries so that’s not a problem, although it works a decent amount on one. I’ve read reviews of people having issues with the chain coming loose my thought is they don’t have it in the bar correct I’ve not had any problems with it.
