John: I have been feeding Grandma Lucy dog food to my dog for a year and a half and about a month ago started developing issues with pale gums and skin. After dozens of visits to the vet we found that he had developed heart issues that could have been much worse if it didn’t notice that his gums were white. The disease is called DCM and is directly linked to peas and potato diets. Quick Google search “DCM dogs potatoes” to find numerous studies and articles. I’ve now spent $4500 to save my dogs life and will never buy this food again. Have recommended this food to everyone and have never felt such regret.

Sara: We have recently had several dogs need to take pills in our house for various reasons, (one needed knee surgery and then another had an infection and had to take antibiotics) I know a lot of people use this for meals, but we were looking for something that we could use to hide pills in and get the dogs to take them without being suspicious. This worked well, we made an batch for the day with warm water and put the remaining amount in the fridge, I used this to top the kibble and made a little pouch with the pills hidden inside. The only reason it is four stars is that one of the dogs stopped deciding that he likes it. It worked for him for a few weeks and now he won’t touch this stuff anymore. The other two will still gobble it up like crazy. I also really like this food for traveling with dogs, we can just add water and feed them on the go backpacking or hiking and it means we aren’t carrying as much weight, you can add a lot more water too and it helps keep the dogs more hydrated too. I will continue to buy this as needed for pills and traveling.

SpudWrenchWench: Seamus is our sweet, gentle, kind, adorable, 9 1/2 year old "eternal puppy" who doesn't just wag his tail when he's happy .... he wags his entire body! He's a clown, a best friend, and a champion snuggler who howls whenever he hears a siren.
On a February day in 2014, my husband and I went to a local animal shelter to meet a puppy that caught our eye on Petfinder. We never did end up meeting that puppy because the minute we laid eyes on our copper-colored angel with the soulful eyes, we knew we'd found "the one". Our Seamus literally picked us - and we're so grateful he did. He was 8 months old when we brought him home - and despite signs that he wasn't treated very kindly by whoever surrendered him to the shelter, he chose to love and trust his strange new humans completely. He's been our joy ever since.
My husband and I aren't the kind of people who care about a dog's pedigree. He grew up with mutts and so did I. Every dog I've ever had has been a mutt. KC: My dog won't eat. He is NOT a normal animal. He is a picky toy poodle who only likes cheese. I guess he took after his Hooman in regards to his love for cheese.
Anyways, I have tried MANY combinations of food, and found that if I soaked kibble to make it soft and mashed it together with Stella and Chewys duck formula, he would gobble it up. However, WHO HAS TIME AND MONEY FOR THAT??!! My dog weighs 6 pounds and I am STILL spending close to $60 a month on his food.
Fast forward to me seeing this glorious food on Amazon. I said, heck, let's try it!
Let me tell you about the amazing things about this food.
1) it SMELLS incredible. I could eat this stuff. Smells like a classic bowl of chicken stew.
2) easy to serve. Much easier than my prior soaking and mashing. You measure out half a cup, and add half a cup of warm water. Let it sit for a minute, serve, and watch your dog wag his tail uncontrollably.
3) full of real pieces of food. You can see the fresh chicken, carrots, celery. Yummy to his tummy.
4) this is crazy affordable in comparison to other freeze dried foods. My dog gets a cup per day, and I am almost positive the 3 lb bag will last us A...
