Gourmet-Style Canned Peeled Straw Mushrooms from Roland Foods

byron royal: I must admit after seeing some of the comments on here I almost didnt order these. But did anyhow.Im sure glad I did, A few said there cans was very dented. I got mine yesterday not one can had a dent. I made some hunan pork tonight. These mushrooms was EXCELLENT. You used be able to get these at most grocey stores but not now since covid. I will be buying these again. not only good but at a fare price aswell.

dennis kelly: Roland is a very good brand, And the mushrooms were fine-consistant medium size, good flavor. But I have a considerable gripe with the shipping department. Eight cans is not a case size, so they were wrapped in flimsy plastic, no additional padding, in a carton large enough to hold three times that amount. Every can was dented,with one leaking which had to be thrown away. I'd be wary for that reason, unfortunately. Wise up, guys!

Ed Lachmann: I love these mushrooms and Roland cans wonderful ones. The problem is that Amazon sent two badly dented cans in the shipment of eight. The box they came in was pristine however, so the delivery driver had no fault in the denting of the cans. Seems they came off the shelves that way. Last time I ordered them they were tightly packed in a much smaller box. This box was twice that size and the cans were scattered about in a large plastic bag inside the huge box. Hope that won't be the case in the future. The straw mushrooms themselves deserve a FIVE STAR rating.

Wyldheart Reads: I enjoy these mushrooms but was surprised that most of the cans I received were severely dented and banged up. The first time I ordered these they arrived in good condition, this second shipment looks like they went through hell before they got to me.

AnonaAnona: Paddy Straw mushrooms are one of my favorites. Despite being sold in a can, these mushrooms are very flavorful and are often featured in many Asian/Chinese food cuisine and recipes. Straw mushroom are perfect for a great tasting traditional Chowmein. Our local Asian groceries used to carry many different brands of Paddy Straw mushrooms, some good, some not and prices can really vary. Biggest problems are consistency of size of the mushrooms and flavor of the brine water they are in. Some brands are very bland, and some come unpeeled (look like a round mushroom ball versus open shape) which traps brine liquid inside but doesn't change the flavor. You can sometimes find them in dry dehydrated packages, but they usually don't taste very good when reconstituted as there's no brine and texture often ends up chewy or soggy. I was a little worried having to buy a case without knowing how these would taste. Being that I have purchased other Roland brand products with good results I felt fairly confident these mushrooms would taste good. Thankfully my guesstimate was correct, these Paddy Straw mushrooms are excellent! Super tasty, perfect size and consistency.
