Golden Fox 6-Inch Boondocker Service Boots for Durable Comfort

Stuff and things: It's pretty good if you're not sure about heritage style leather boots yet. It's comfy, breaks in fast, and is a lot of boot for $100. It's perfect if this is your style of boot or you want a beater. This one ended up not being my style though. There are a few alternatives for $40-60 dollars more that are both more resoleable and are better looking IMO and have a few more features. This one definitely falls under my shoe collection of boots that I will probably beat up and not have resoled.

Sizing wise, I wear 9.5 sneakers and I ordered a 9.5 size. It's a bit roomy but workable. Probably should have went by boot sizing and went half a size down.

Sherry: Great shoe. Not a speedy entry or exit shoe. You have to love or appreciate the style to accept the effort. Sizing notes and reviews are all over the place. Amazon recommended a completely different size. I guessed. I went with my typical size, but could probably have gone down a half size. They're roomy, sturdy and comfortable though.

Raul Gonzalez: I really wanted to love with these boots. They're a beautiful looking pair of boots. The leather is great quality and has already begun to patina nicely. My biggest gripe is the fit. I ordered a half size down as recommended and found them to be way too tight. I then ordered my normal size and they're far too loose. They're also quite heavy. I wear them to work and they become pretty uncomfortable by the end of the day. The shoelaces could have been a bit nicer but that's a nitpick. If the company figures out the sizing issue and stops making them in CHINA these would be some of the best boots you could buy especially for the money.
One last minor issue is that I ordered them in brown which I assumed would be the dark brown, but I believe I was sent the "fudge" color which are a bit lighter in color, and more reddish/clay colored. Despite that they're still a very sharp looking pair of boots. I'll continue to wear them and hope that the fit improves over time.

Mcaughey: So a while back I was looking to get into heritage style footwear and since I had a brown pair of boots from another company I felt I needed a black pair to have as an alternative for such occasions or when I wanted to wear a black pair of shoes. Not having the money for a Thursday captain or a Georgia small batch ( the Georgia didn’t offer a narrow width either) I wanted something affordable but heritage style in a narrow width ( yes I can wear a 1966 vintage jungle boot in a narrow width). I got the golden fox boots not knowing what to expect, so I tried them on one Thursday night ( I typically go out Friday or Saturday evenings). Loved them right away, didn’t look like the padding would do the job but it did, that padding combined with the softer rubber sole produced a boot that didn’t beat my foot up, didn’t hurt after walking or standing for an extended period. As I only wear them on the weekends currently I suspect they’ll hold up for a while ( as most shoes that see wear that seldom should). The tread pattern does have some wear after a few months but they broke in very fast and are holding up well. The laces stay tied and they don’t fall off. My foot does not...

martin cormier: These boots are fantastic for the money and I am pretty happy with the purchase, HOWEVER, they do not have crepe soles as advertised. Instead they have a more standard hard rubber sole with a molded crepe-like texture. They do not have the softness or spring of a true crepe sole. I don't know if that is dishonest marketing or just an error but it has marred an otherwise happy transaction.
