"im_silox": I'm not a hiking expert, and used one other set of poles previously. These poles are great for their small collapsed length, but most importantly when the poles are extended and firmly fixed they STAY FIXED. I am 6ft 250 lb and the height of the poles never slip. My previous pair would slowly slip, and have to be re-extended every 30-60 min.

Chloe: Here I provide some more accurate specs for this product. The extended length with tip is between 112 and 132cm (end to end), with claimed 20 cm adjustable range. The measured folded length is ~15.5 inch, when folded up into 3 sections; which then can be further reduced to ~14 inch only if the inner tube (section #2?) of the handler section is pull out (into 4 sections). The measured weight without tips is about 9.8 oz per pole, and is 10.2 oz with a simple tip.

This is the 2nd poles I have bought this year. My first one (different brand) is throw away by the airport because they don't allow me to carry it on the flight (don't know the policies!). These two are very similar in terms of specs, materials, and designs and I would just recommend this cheaper one saving your money. I haven't use it for hiking yet, but I have compared it to my another pair of telescopic poles (heavier): though lighter, this one is clearly less sturdy. So one star off...

CynthiaM: Had hardware removal surgery about 5 months ago, and my ankle aches from time to time. Went hiking and the trail was rocky at times. My ankle started feeling kinda weak, these poles helped so much!! They were sturdy and gave me so much support to keep going. They're easy to expand and the hand grip was very comfortable. I hiked for about 5 hours. I used these about 90% of the time. Good quality and great price.

Lexie Muse: I should say that I have never left an Amazon review before. That's how awesome these poles are.
I will start by saying that I live in Boston and hike in the Whites 1-3 times every week.
While these poles are on the cheaper side, they lasted for some amazingly intense hikes for over a year before the handle covers unattached from the handles (which could have easily been fixed with super glue). They've been through the Hundred Mile Wilderness, up Katahdin, through 16 of the toughest mountains in New Hampshire, on countless training trips (2-3 every week), and international excursions, and it took an entire year for them to even show wear! Even without the covers adhering to the tops of the poles, they were still usable and comfortable. I can't believe I found them.
Typically, I buy pricier things (e.g. Soloman shoes, an Osprey pack) out of a want for quality product; I will be continuing to buy these hiking poles. I will be ordering another pair of these again!

BW: I’m used to telescoping carbon-fiber poles, however fitting them into luggage wasn’t the easiest. Decided to give the three-sectioned style a try for a trip to Zion/Bryce/Grand Canyon.

First, packing in luggage was SOOO much easier, huge consideration seeing I had to bring a pair for me and my father. These fit in his smaller bag fine while I used my larger luggage (that I upgraded solely because of my previous poles) for my other pair.

Got plenty of hiking done with these poles. Honestly, I may be a convert to this style now. They’re not as stiff as the telescoping poles I’m used to, but adjustment is way easier, which is huge if you’re constantly using then stashing your poles on your pack like I do. No fiddling with knobs trying to get the length right, you pull them till they click and you’re done.

May eventually upgrade to a name brand in carbon fiber to trim a few ounces, but these poles are a great bargain. Wish they came with cork handles though, and the overall girth of the grips could be a bit bigger. I don’t have huge hands, I wear a men’s medium glove, but they felt a bit smaller than what I’d prefer.
