Kindle Customer: I thoroughly enjoyed the characters in this book. The ladies are grand but will do what they have to for their friends and love their husbands with all their hearts. It was a fast read for me as I could not put the book down. I started reading at 11:30 pm and read until 4:30 am. A little off the next day but this book was worth the time. I am now ready for Justin to become strong and find his mate. Thank you Marie for another great book. Love all your characters in all your books. It seems as though know them personally.

iloveny: I have read every single book by Marie Force and she never disappoints her readers. Aubrey Nelson invited the Duke and Duchess of Westbrook to summer with him in Newport. He was sent ahead to see that the house was in order...When he got there he found Maeve Brown the only one on the staff to make sure the home was ready. Aubrey's mother is an ogre and a snob of the highest order. Aubrey and Maeve (who was Irish) married Aubrey and that set his mother off....No more details but, the read was great as per Marie's usual. After reading Duchess by Deception I couldn't wait for the next book. I fell in love with all the characters as will you. I highly recommend this book. You won't regret it.

Peg Gregory: Deceived by Desire by Marie Force is a wonderful novel of the so-called Gilded Age. Set in the early 1900s when so many wonderful things were happening, Aubrey Nelson, a wealthy young man who was sent ahead of his family to ready the Newport beach home for the season, discovers that home to be in great disarray when he arrives. The first person he spies is the sole person working hard to set it to rights, the lovely Maeve Brown, the Irish housekeeper hired for the job only because no one else would come back to work for his mother, so despised for her hateful treatment of the servants that before they closed the house after season was over, they left all the windows open to the elements, including the rodents she encountered upon her arrival. Only his bedroom was left in excellent shape, because they all cared for him and respected him for his good treatment of them. At first he pretends to be the butler for whom she mistakes him and pitches in to help her when the real butler arrives and he must admit he pretended not to be the owner because he wanted to get to know her. From there it is an unbelievable ride for both Maeve and the reader and I loved every moment of it - and I'm...

BookReader: As one who began reading romance in my teens, I read only regency stories. That changed and I have now found myself back to reading some - Marie Force’s Gilded series to be exact. I have always enjoyed Marie’s writing style and she now has this series (set in the early 1900’s) it one not to be missed.
The early 1900’s was an exciting time. The beginning of the Industrial Age evolving into changes for men and women. This book envelopes those changes. It is the story of Irish girl Maeve Brown and her employer Aubrey Nelson. As the housekeeper for his Newport home, Aubrey falls head over heels in love with Maeve. When danger follows Maeve from Ireland to Newport, Aburey does everything he can to keep her safe. Yet just how safe is she even in his home.
Very enjoyable book with mystery, surprises, and a good old fashioned love story awaits you!

Amazon Customer: I didn’t care for ALL the sexual details. Some things can be left to one’s imagination. I did enjoy the story line and especially the ending.
