P. EllisP. Ellis: I had an old tired fireplace in my basement that needed a makeover. This product was so easy to use and really gave it a fresh new look. It took a little bit of practice to determine how much to use...how hard to wipe...etc. But after 5-10 minutes, we had the way of it. From start to finish, this project took me about 3 hours and made a world of difference!! Super happy with how it turned out.

KatieKatie: I am really happy with how this kit turned out! I used 1-1 and wiped with a wet rag.

I used every piece of the kit and it had everything I needed. (I then went over the base with high heat spray paint- not included)
(Ignore the walls mismatched, we are in the process of priming over the wood paneling)

I did it myself in an afternoon. A fairly inexpensive project to totally makeover the room!

Jenna GJenna G: I was looking to update our orange colored brick 80s fireplace, and after much research liked the idea and look of whitewashing it. I found this kit and thought I’d give it a try. For a non-diyer like myself, this kit was straightforward and easy to use. I liked that everything I needed was all there. The project turned out very nicely. The only con for me personally, was that the “white” was a very cold stark white. Even more white than our white trim. It almost appears gray in color over the brick. I would have preferred a slightly warmer white, but overall am still very happy with the finished product and would recommend it to others. Just beware of the white tone.

LindaLinda: I had a crappy old stone wall that had all sorts of discolouration and damage. This whitewash has given it a great fresh look. The instructions were all about painting interior brick. But I think this will do just fine.

JB and KerriJB and Kerri: A simple way to completely transform a space. We use a 2:1 ratio of paint to water, and did not wipe as we were going for a fuller look. For stacked stone fireplaces be prepared to take much longer and use a small brush to get in the small nooks. Took me about 8hrs total split between multiple days. Definitely recommend for anyone looking to brighten up their space.

Jay_the_cool_guyJay_the_cool_guy: I figured I would write a review for this product because I know how much I appreciated reading the reviews when I decided to paint my fireplace.
Day 1: I started by vacuuming my fireplace then spraying on TSP cleaner and brushing it all with a thick bristled broom. Then I sprayed water on it to rinse off any left over cleaner. I let a dehumidifier run overnight in the room because I wanted to make sure the brick was bone dry before painting.
Day 2: I taped off the areas I didn’t want to get paint on and started to paint. I mixed half the can of paint (about 235ml) with 300ml of water. (so, slightly more water than a 1:1 ratio)
Make sure to shake the can well before pouring and then use the stir stick to mix the water well before painting and often during the painting process.
As I started painting, I could see the brick quickly absorbing the paint and a lot of the red brick underneath coming through, so after I painted about 10 bricks, I went back and applied more on the previous ones. I didn’t wipe off the paint, but I did pat it a bit with the enclosed cloth, cause the paint was going on very bubbly and I didn’t want the bubbles to show when it dried.

I would give it 6 stars if I could. Previously I mentioned that it dries matte, and I'd be worried the white would get really dirty. I was wrong, it actually cleans up really nice with a regular Clorox wipe. It is definatley more matte then shiny, but the surface is much easier to clean then I initially thought. I'm really happy with the product after living with it for a few months.

I absolutely 100% did NOT think that tiny little can of paint would cover the whole fireplace... I was wrong... So very wrong. The paint can is only 16 oz I think. I have what I would consider a "standard" sized fireplace.

I HATE red brick. I didn't want any showing through at all. I did the 2:1 ratio and didn't rub any of the paint off. I mixed the 8oz of paint with 4 oz water. I laid the first coat on very thick, and the red brick was still showing through a bit (make sure you catch your paint drips though if laying it on thick).
