Jason Fields: Used this bone saw on a small buck this week, sharp, safe, and functional. Only 4 stars because it’s not completely ambidextrous….if the handle were a little closer to symmetrical I could use with either hand on either side of deer, as it is it can be a little limiting. Great buy though, and hard to find not in a kit.

Dusty Ray: The blades are awesome and so is the gerber vital knife. But the blade holder could use some work . New blades are a pain to remove ones your hands are dirty from processing a animal .

JustPoo: When I saw this knife I had to have it, it was once of those purchases. I used a lot of craft type blades and figured a compact Gerber that takes scalpel blades would be just the ticket. And it is, to a point. Firstly its very comfortable to use, the handle is well shaped and the whole knife is nicely balanced. The blades are obviously about as sharp as they come and it's very convenient to have such a capable blade in a compact folder. There's a neat safety feature where the blade stops half way through closing so it doesn't snap shut on your poor fingers - very thoughtful design. It does snap shut securely too, there's no chance of it accidentally opening.
I do have a couple of niggles with it though. Firstly is that the blade isn't held in place as tightly as I'd like. I want it to be absolutely fixed but there's a slight lateral movement which is a bit annoying. Secondly, the blade release button is right next to the almost identical looking and feeling part you push to open the knife. I haven't yet released the blade when opening the knife but I have accidentally pressed the button more than once when going to flick the knife open and had to stop myself before I did...
