Evernight: I had this knife for 4 years and then misplaced it at a hotel. I repurchased this one as a replacement. I would buy it again and again if I lose it. I carry this knife EVERY SINGLE DAY and I use it for something just about everyday. I use it to cut my kids food when we are out, I use it to cut strings off clothes, open packages, you name it. This is the PERFECT pocket carry knife. The clip is tight but not too ridged so it quickly comes off and goes back on my pocket with one hand. The swivel is not loose but easy enough to open with a thumb or hard flick. The lock bar (and this is important because a ton of knives screw this up) can be easily pushed aside to allow for one handed closing - because the lock bar is a different metal entirely from the frame.
The blade held its edge with only semi-annual sharpenings (which for my level of use is impressive). Some might say its a bit big for a pocket knife, but I have found its length quite useful (especially for food with toddlers around). It allows me to cut fruits and breads that a 1-2" knife just wouldn't do.
I cannot praise this knife enough. I find them on sale occasionally and give them out as gifts to everyone I...

Amazon JackAmazon Jack: I got my first Gerber Harsey Air Ranger knife about 10 years ago. I returned another Gerber knife I owned to their repair center for repairs (Gerber guarantees all their knives FOR LIFE !!) and they couldn't fix it because it was a discontinued model--so they offered to give me a knife from their current catalog (of equal value) to replace mine. After looking through their catalog, I spotted the Harsey Air Ranger (all metal, with checkered aluminum grips) and I chose it. When it arrived, I didn't know if I liked it or not. It didn't look like any of my other Gerber's, and it was WAY LIGHTER! Gerber's have a nice heft to them, and this one didn't, but I put it in my pocket and hardly noticed it was there. Hmmm, lighter might be better for a pocket knife anyway I thought. The aluminum grips were very light, strong, and checkered like a gunstock. Even when wet, they allow for a good grip. I never baby a knife, (even if it's an expensive one) as I use my knives every day, from cutting cardboard boxes, rope, wires and wood. A knife must earn its keep--if its going to be in MY pocket. My original Air Ranger is still in my pocket, still working every day--just like me. When I've finally...

Frank: I find Gerber knives usually good quality and good price.
This one was sharp put a wee bit stiff to deploy. I will have to work with it to make it deploy quicker.
