David Bowyer: Loved it wish they had done more of them

BOA: I fell in love with Mad Max Fury Road. I bought the movie in both Black/Chrome and color versions on Prime Video. I HAD TO HAVE IT when I discovered this book that tells the backstory of "Fury Road."

Dr Archit Srivastava: This comic book offers a lot of stories that serve as a prequel to the movie Mad Max fury road. The stories are good but the artwork suffers from some lazy inking and colors. The writer also goofs up when he mentions Hindu warrior Tanaji as Persian.

William M Miller: What a impressive collection of graphic/comic book short stories, detailing the prequel to one of the top ten action films of all time. With stories overseen by the creator himself, George Miller, this is a must own for anyone who loved the film. You not only get a detailed introduction from George Miller's storyboard artist about the four tales in the book, but a bonus story, The War Rig, which is exclusive to this collection. While the artwork differs from each story, one - if not more - of the styles is sure to please your taste. You get more background not only on Max, but Immortan Joe and Furiosa. Short of watching a new Max Max film, this is as close as fans will get to having new material from this groundbreaking franchise. Obviously recommended.

JasonKilgoreJasonKilgore: I couldn't be more pleased with this graphic novel. The artistry is first-rate. The stories are compelling. and it has all of the post-apocalyptic nihilism and road-roaring rage of the movies, as well as the tough heart of the movie protagonists and heartlessness of the bad guys.

The movie started with some clear gaps that needed answering, and this book answers those. For instance, what was the story behind the "brides" and how Furiosa came to protect them? Or what's the backstory on Immortan Joe? The graphic novel also tells us the background for Nux, a couple novel stories for Max before he came to the movie, and even a chapter on the history of the War Rig!

Not only does it have the movie director, George Miller, at the helm, but veteran Mad Max storyboarder and artist Mark Sexton contributing to the art. Any fan of Mad Max should purchase and read this at once!

Terry Webb: I read many of the reviews before I ordered this, and was a little concerned by so many negative ones. But being a true Mad Max fan I ordered and read it the day it arrived. I have to say that I don't know why there were so many negatives because I think it's excellent, and recommend it to any mad Max fan. I found it gave considerable insight ito the events in Fury Road, which was what it was said to do.

I also recall one saying he doubted George miller even had anything to do with it, other than his name. I totally disagree with that, as it is obvious he was involved, and I expect approved it before release. After all, it is a direct reflection of his creation.

Bottom line this is well worth the money, and I found many answers to what went on before Fury Road . This is a comic/graphic novel and not a novel/book. It actually lends itself to some spin off movies that could be great!

Tahni J: This collection gives a brief bit of back story to important characters in Fury Road. Though they aren't technically given their own stories, the background of the wives is flashed out quite a bit, as are their characters, in Furiosa's story. In fact, I would say the part dedicated to Furiosa focuses quite a bit more on the wives, being the story of how Furiosa met them and came to the decision to help free them. The story behind Immortan Joe is appropriately mythologized, shedding all the more light on the man and how he came to be. Even the war rig gets a back story.

The thing I so loved about Fury Road was the subtlety of its social commentary. Despite what a lot of people said about it being "feminist propaganda" it didn't let it's politics get in the way of the movie being just another Mad Max movie. It's commentary was woven into the fabric of the hours long car cashes and explosions and murder and chaos (THE CHAOS) and didn't overshadow any of that. This is exactly my favorite part of this comic collection is: the social commentary is there, woven through the stories and driving the incredible imagery. That commentary is very much more overt than in the movie due to...

Johnentwistlespout: This glossy paperback is a compilation of four comics released after the release of Fury Road and, whilst they are so-so in terms of their individual value, provide a glimpse of something we rarely get to see in movies; a directors backstory for individual characters from the film. Viewed in this way they are not only stunning but also invaluable.

The four tales (five, with the exclusive, never before published, War Rig short) are all written by George Miller and are linked together in a familiar way for Mad Max fans; by a storyteller talking from the future. In this case it's one of the WordBurgers we heard so much about in the run up to the films release, kind of like Savannah Nix (from Thunderdome) but speaking from Fury Road's citadel of the future.

The stories hark back to the past but with a Rashomon effect, that is to say slightly different, misheard, to what you remember. It works well, and plugs many of the supposed continuity errors from Fury Road.

The first story 'Immortan Joe and Nux' gives us those characters back stories, there's not much we couldn't have guessed to be honest in terms of Joe, but Nux is filled out slightly. There's also a nod to...
