Padraig Mc: This us the life story of a remarkable man, a brilliant comic actor who could also play serious roles with equal skill, a veteran of WW2, someone who could make you laugh helplessly with barely a glance. Most people will know George Cole from Minder, but there was so much more to the man than that single, admittedly brilliant role. Go buy the book you will not want to put it down until you are finished.

Amazon Customer: Do not waste your time or money 95% of this book is nothing more than an index of plays, TV and films that George Cole had been in. It would have been quicker and cheaper to just use Google search to find the information contained in this badly written book.

Peter Tourle: Disappointing - no warmth in it, just series of " and then I did this and then I did that ".

R. G. Barker: A good read. I actually never knew George had done quite as much as he has.
I bought this book on the strength of Minder and the St Trinnians films, and was pleasantly surprised.

Amazon Customer: Boring. I am a fan of Minder and admire George Cole. However very disappointed with his book. It has been written like a diary of his performances.. No insight to his life at all.

Roy Vicars: In 70 years of acting if a man doesn't know how to tell his personal story - the drama of life - he's in the wrong line; George Cole is one of those actors who when listed in a cast is a stamp of quality and interest to both serious and comedy productions and here he tells it as it was, often modest, sometimes outspoken not afraid to admit his failings but proud of his many successes. Of cause along the path of his career he has acted along side hundreds and here he has obviously researched even to small details and small but important incidents. Of cause his Mentor  The Green Man [DVD][1956 ]Alastair Sim features strongly in his early life in mainly theatre. Mr Cole could and can play devious but likable rogues to overbearing Lords and senior politicians and do both type of role generous justice, its all here. Like a good meal I really enjoyed this hardback and recommend it.
