Gently Train Your Dog to Walk Without Pulling with PetSafe's Chic Gentle Leader Headcollar

Dog Dad: Our pup really pulls on the leash and refuses treat rewards when she sees something that interests her. We've tried many different harnesses but this is the only one that seems to work. While our dog tries to get it off after 5 or 6 blocks she doesn't pull while it's on. It may not be the most comfortable at the beginning for our dog but it definitely has been a big help in her training.

Pinkthink: We had used a gentle leader on our male boxer rescue with great success, so we ordered this one when our latest addition, a male cockapoo arrived. It helped immediately. It's a bit more challenging with the curls because sometimes I worry he can't see very well and he definitely spends a good deal of time fussing with it, but it has eliminated the pulling, which allows us to take nice long strolls without hurting my back. I wish the leash were a little longer, but it's long enough for him to stay by me when walking, which is the point. (When we go exploring, I use a long leash and a body harness instead so he has more freedom.) I imagine we will always want to have a gentle leader on hand for future pets. Great product!

beanbagclub: My pup doesn’t pull much with this. It didn’t take long for him to get used to this around his muzzle but admittedly he’s used to balancing stuff on his muzzle which could explain his tolerance for this. Just a couple of days where he tried to paw this off. My second purchase so we can wash one and use one.

K. H.: I have used the gently brand with my other dogs and they work so well in controlling their behavior and helping me be able to walk them. I had two dogs that were 100 plus pounds so it was hard to walk both of them. But with the gently it was easy. I got this cute gentle lead with the donuts on it for my new 9-month-old puppy. She hates it but it works perfectly. It doesn't hurt her and it is comfortable. She just needs to get used to walking with it. It took about two times for that to happen and now she's a pro. No pulling, no trying to run away. Perfect for training. After 4 months she's able to walk off leash without running away.

Soy dueño de cuatro perros y frecuento entrenadores caninos todo el tiempo; nunca me he encontrado a un solo perro que se resista a este producto (aunque jale “demasiado"). Para mí es la solución perfecta para el perro poco cooperativo y creo que es la herramienta perfecta para dejar el horrible y cruel instrumento que es la correa de castigo en la basura –donde pertenece.

Pet LadyPet Lady: I swear by PetSafe’s headcollars, and they make it so I can walk a combined 300 lbs worth of Newfoundland all by myself without being pulled in two different directions. I absolutely LOVE that they now come in cute designs like this. It’s only been a couple weeks, but so far no one has asked me why my dog is wearing a muzzle. Plus, she’s extra stinkin’ cute wearing it!

I knocked off a star for the new clasp (pictured). It’s easier to adjust the size now and probably great for dog owners with arthritis. However, because it’s so much easier to maneuver than the old clasp, it also adjusts itself accidentally a lot - like, almost every time I grab the straps to put it on my dog.

As an added bonus, this headcollar comes with a matching leash (although it’s a bit silly because I ordered the large headcollar that fits dogs up to 130 lbs, and the leash is only half an inch wide so I can’t really use it, but hey, I wasn’t even expecting it).

Information Junkie: Paid for next day delivery it arrived by 10 AM. Happy with speedy delivery.

Pretty collar pattern, large size easily adjusts to fit 70 pound retriever. Have bought this brand before so I know the plastic parts are durable. My strong active lunging two-year-old is much easier to walk wearing this collar. Before using this he pulled me off my feet several times in his enthusiasm to investigate stuff. Would buy more of these if they had more patterns to choose from.

From past experience I know that the lying down and pawing at the collar is a temporary behavior. Once they realize they can go for a walk, with a bit of training they sit quietly while you put it on. Remy wears a back up collar in the event he manages to pull the leader off his nose.

Happily recommend this collar, it is a good value considering the improved behaviour on your walks.

hayls: I have three dogs. The first won't be included in this because he was a joy to leash train and walks perfectly. My second, a now 2 year old Aussie has been a nightmare. She slipped so many collars when she was a puppy I haven't felt safe in anything but a harness. We've been using the easy walk for about a year but it's inconsistent in correction for her. Usually it's great, but sometimes it's worse. When we got the third Aussie, who is now about 10 months, I got a regular kong harness with a front and back loop. After she was about 6-7 months old, we started using the front loop to walk her to cut down on pulling. Her attention span is super short and while she's great in one on one training or in calm environments, it all goes out the window when she sees something even remotely interesting...like a leaf. 😂

I didn't imagine that the gentle leaders would be something we'd like. I was so certain that my two pullers would hate it and fight it the whole time. After a friend demonstrated it in action with a lab puppy, I decided to finally give it a try. All the pet stores I looked at only had it in your standard black/red/blue and I wanted something more...

Doll Face: I love this design and had to buy from America. Why are all the UK ones boring old plain blue, black and red colours?
Dogs just wanna have fun too!
Great quality - came with a lead, instruction booklet and informative DVD.
I love the Gentle leader. It is easy to use and gives you so much control without jerking and pulling your poor old pooch, who cannot help himself being sooo enthusiastic about walks and teasing cats!
