Scipio: I got these to try in place of the "wound string" filters we were using on the whole house filter for water from our well. What an improvement! These filter much better and last 4x longer, all at a reasonable price. Very good product.

Wapas: after a few months, there was a brown film that did not get into my house.
not trying to say these completely clean the water, but the bigger parts are trapped in the filters. They have huge surface area compared to the normal diameter filters. Could probably go 10 or 20 thousand gallons until the flow was cut downs. As they plug up, they filter more too, but the flow suffers. For me, I was looking for a change in my filter status as my tank cleared up so was changing 3 times a year.
