The directions are a bit sparse but it’s also not an overly complicated process. Only heads up is that the pins for setting the On/Off times are a pain to get back on if you unscrew them too much and they come off the timer wheel. Even with that issue this is still a terrific timer and exceptionally nice build quality.

As of writing ( 7 August 2022 ) Amazon had in the topmost description "Operating Voltage: 120 V" -- the timer needs 240 volts. when I got it - the box was extermely clear ; operates on 240 volts for the timer. Company who actually made it was helpful once I got to the person who knew their products. First person I chatted with and expressed my concerns told me that it was universal - should be oK in a 120 vac operation. I then installed and the timer did not work - finally got to someone who understood ; they sent me a return label and , prior to me having to send the installed one back,. sent me the other model that I just installed. This is a matter of how the listing is on Amazon ; to their credit - if you scroll down and review the technical specifications in detail ( which I did AFTER buying ) it notes the timer needs 240 volts..

Clunky design. It would be OK if the unit actually kept time, but it does not, so the lake thruster that it was intended to control has to be turned on and off manually.
Would have expected more from GE. Piece of junk as things stand.

I love this timer! It replaces a fussy Tork digital timer that went belly up after about 3 months of use. My guess is a power surge zapped the electronics rendering it useless.
This is a very sturdy strongly built unit made of steel. You can ground your wires directly to the box. It’s a mechanical (not electronic) switch as well... there’s a solid “clunk” when the timer goes from off to on and back again. The protective heavy plastic shield for over the potentially live contacts has its own set of screws. Very nice.
The instructions were surprisingly well written (no doubt by a native English speaker... is that too much to ask??). Included were actual pictures of the unit with superimposed pointers to the indicated connections making it very easy to set up.
The only downside I can point to is that they include only one “off” and one “on” for the 24 hour clock day. I have to believe you could get a few extras from GE if your needs involved having off and on more than once per day.
It’s been working flawlessly for a week. I suspect I won’t need to replace this unit for quite some time!

I bought this to replace an older one which controlled my pool pump and was very pleased initially when unpacking to see that it seemed to be well made and at $40, was good value. My views changed after installation, as you will see below. It was relatively easy to install and I found the instructions to be fairly straightforward.
One thing that I found surprising, regarding the instructions, is that there is a note in the 'Warning' section which states "grounding must be continuous and in proper electrical contact in all grounding conductors, metallic conduits and grounding terminals" Nothing wrong with that, however, the instructions only state that the bare (ground) wire is to be connected to the ground lug on the metal box. No mention is made of connecting this to the ground terminal provided on the metal plate of the timer module. Without physically connecting these by an additional ground wire, grounding of the module is dependent only on good metallic contact between the module and the box. This would normally be adequate to begin with but in a few years there may be corrosion which could reduce the connectivity. To be safe, make sure you...
