They told me it was still under warranty and after troubleshooting the gas valve (maybe a weakness on these?) with my help, they sent me a new unit. Five stars for excellent customer service and quickness of response to e mails. New unit working fine. The old one works if i wedge the valve open ( which is probably a no-no); i'm thinking that it needs a new ignition unit.

C Hyder:
I bought this water heater to put in our tiny home, as I got tired of taking showers at the gym. Once I got a pump and everything hooked up, it worked fine. I took one shower and it was wonderful. But, I tried to take a shower with it just the other night and the water got WAY TOO HOT. I had it on the lowest temp setting and the highest waterflow setting but it was still too hot. Idk why it's this way. The only way we got it to a decent temp was by adding literal ice water to the intake. Idk what to do. I'm extremely disappointed. It's getting summer and crazy hot showers do not sound appealing to me....
UPDATE: After fixing it getting super hot and it working semi okay. It still kept shutting off after running for a minute or two. Meaning, you have to rinse or get wet super quickly or it'd shut off and you'd be showering in cold water.
NOW, after a year of fighting this thing, it's either leaking propane or something because it'll continue to click like it's supposed to ignite and flames will woosh out the bottom. This is mounted on my tiny house, I do NOT want to see my home burnt down. If anybody has some type of info on what I can do, I'd...

Jake Musslewhite: I bought this water heater to use in an outdoor shower at a remote cabin. When I first installed it, I couldn't get it to work. When I called the Gasland support number (from their website), they helped me troubleshoot it before concluding my unit had a bad propane solenoid valve. They promptly sent me a new unit which arrived in a few days. The new one worked great! I haven't had a chance to test it with my cabin setup yet, which uses a 12 volt pump, but using a standard garden hose it heats water quickly and provides plenty of hot water for a decent shower. It would be an excellent choice for any off-grid water heating application.

TexasKayaker:
I bought this water heater to build/setup a temporary (less than 6/month) outdoor shower as we work to build a house on our off-grid farm. Yes, you read that right.. no fancy utilities out here. We had a deep water well drilled and its powered by our 11000 watt generator with a 120gallon pressure tank (which holds about 65g when filled).
First impressions on the tankless heater...
Pros:
*good build quality
*has a good weight, not too heavy but not light as a feather
*components appear of good quality
*straight forward operational use
*pretty easy to setup
*does not require electricity (aside from two size-D batteries)
*shower is powered by water pressure, provided by a garden hose connection
*has digital temperature display
*small display window which allows you to see the flame when it is running/on
Cons:
*the digital temp display is only in celcius. Not a major deal, but inconvenient because I am constantly having to do math, which I'm not a major fan of. Hence why I want to farm, hence there isn't much math in farming, hence I have to stop saying hence so much.
*the flame is highly sensitive to the...

EB12: If you are up in the air about purchasing this heater, don't be. It does what it says and it does it well. I use the heater alongside of my hot tub almost daily. I use it to rinse before getting in and after. I also use it to top off the hot tub. I love using my hot tub and this baby has helped tremendously in making it such an enjoyable daily routine. Even on cold days i will top off while in the tub taking the temp up to extra hot. I have had it for 2 years now and am writing this review from the tub as it heats water on demand. In 2 years daily I have used maybe 5 tanks of propane and that's with quick rinses and a lot of top off taking Minutes at times. So the gas use I would say is very minimal depending on use of course. The heater itself does get hot the longer you run it. Not an issue but I have it up on a metal railing so be aware of that. It can run in really low pressure but again here at home I have superb pressure so at first used a regulator for fear of over pressure but have since removed the regulator and have not had an issue. I have used 2 pairs of d batteries in 2 years. I had a cover for it the first year but since it is under canopy don't...
