Pro:
Boils water faster than anything short of a nuclear reactor.
Low simmer works well (better than most gas/electric I've used)
Easy to clean, food doesn't burn onto the surface.
Makes cool "space ship" noises while you're cooking
Con:
No UL or CSA safety ratings that I can find.
Have to buy induction cookware.
Minimal user manual and overly complex user interface.
Touch controls don't handle getting wet very well.
I've mostly used consumer grade gas cooktops and the last few years a radiant electric. This is my first induction cooktop. I choose it based on price, it was a fraction of big name ones at the local store, and decent reviews. It's been in use a few months now and we're very satisfied with it. We are using a new set of Circulon cookware we bought plus some cast iron that was on hand. Sorry to lose all the Revere pans that have been in the fam for generations but they don't work on induction.
It boils water really fast on the highest boost setting. For 3 quarts or less you can literally stand there and watch it come to a boil. We learned the hard way don't walk off even for a moment with something on the higher...

Eduardo Garcia:
have been using the the Gasland Chef IH77BFH, Induction Cooktop for about two months and both my wife and I love it. The fan is a little noisy and and the clicking of the induction coils can be annoying, especially when the kitchen is quite. However, with a little background noise, you can hardly notice.
It was a breeze to install, took me 20 mins to connect the cable and the spring clips that hold it in place. fitted perfectly in the hole from our previous ceramic radiant cooktop, looks great and heats up pots and pans much quicker.
A couple of useful tips:
* Be careful when cleaning with a damp cloth as the controls go haywire, but OK once they dry off.
* Easy to lock, my wife thought the unit was defective. Just hold down the + & - at the same time for about 5 seconds and good to go.
Main advantages over radiant cooktops:
* Heats up as quickly as gas and even quicker with the boost function.
* The induction top does not heat up (except heat from pot/pan), hence much easier to clean. Spills do not bake onto surface and you do not need the cooktop to cool down before cleaning.
* The IH77BFH can join the coils on the...

JMLobertJMLobert: This is my second induction stovetop (I managed to break the 1st). With five zones, this is a nice upgrade over my previous 4 zones, the primary reason why I bought it. I also like that you can combine two each left and right zones into one large, for extra large pots I have and I bought a griddle for searing steaks if it rains.
Many people complain about the controls turning off when wet, this is normal and every electronic control stovetop will do this, this one is actually less sensitive than my last one.
The device was easy to install, especially if you are replacing an older unit and all you have to do is switch the wires.
A few things that could be better:
* The top has problems with really small pots and pans, especially aluminum with iron core. I have a 6 inch diameter Calphalon pot where the top keeps turning off, especially at medium settings, it works better at high. The same for a small alu pan with iron core, the problem is that the iron is only in the bottom, not the sides. The larger versions of these work just fine, so does any cast iron device I have, including a wok that has only a 4 inch base (but tapers...
