Visit the Garmin Store to get your hands on the eTrex 32x today.James Archer: I still have a working eTrex Legend HCx, but wanted to upgrade its capabilities and picked this up on sale. It is basically the same functionality, but newer. Very similar (or the same?) interfaces, so it is easy to start using.

James E Adrian: It will not take a sd card, put one in and it says no sd card, Ordered new sd cards to see it that works? The two I have would not work! I went on the Garmin web page to see how to insert the SD card and followed the directions!
Took over 6 hours to download the updated US ONLY maps.
At the price you have to pay (over $255.00O) you would think they could put in a couple dollar sd card for you.
You would also think that they could sell a GPS with the updated maps in it.
I should receive the new SD cards from amazon tomorrow and I will see it that works - if they do not I guess I will have to try to return it
UPDATE:
New SD card works.
Still do not like to have to download 6 hours of map updates.
This is my third Garmin and each one I had to update before using!
EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT NOW!

"turn4": Great for hiking, especially where the trails have multiple junctions and bends. Saving each hike's track makes it easy to retrace to where unexplored trails branch off and creates a convenient history of hikes completed. Also great for hiking in areas where the trails aren't well-marked. If you're on an all-day hike take an extra pair of AA batteries. Get the largest SD card the unit will accept - a small investment with a big payoff when you download updated maps or add new maps. Lots of features - check out the menu.

John D Renner: Unit works well for back country hiking, with good accuracy, good graphics, and good battery life. Overall, I am happy with it. But it is very difficult to learn how to use, because the instructions (both written and on-line) suck. User you-tube videos are necessary to figure out how to do the many things this unit is capable of. Also, there can be significant lag-time for the screen to refresh, which is not a big deal but is a nuisance.

Michel: Had to replace my older model etrek. Got this one because of maps and options for equal billing (careful read all terms.. I payed in full asap).
Too bad all my other accessories are not compatible because the basic ones are pricey..
30$ for a clip. (Didn't come with a strap)

Amnon Feiner: I cannot believe there is still such horrific UI and accompanying software this days. who writes this crap? the devices is useless, slow and cumbersome to say the least. Loading trails into the devices is another pain in the A$$, and it truncate trail names so you really need to be creative here...
Took it backpacking in the Yosemite and mammoth lakes for testing, my wife's iWatch 7 GPS beat it in every aspect, speed, ease of use and tracking. At one point we had no reception at all in Yosemite, it tool the Garmin about 5 minutes to load the map, the iWatch was dome in 45 seconds. Waste of time and effort, returned as quickly as possible.

Guy: Neither Garmin BaseCamp or Garmin Express work with the eTrex 32x on my Windows 10 PC. They're supposed to, and they connect to the GPS, but they don't work.
Garmin Express connects to the GPS, identies it as an eTrex 32x, and says it does not support this device and to use Garmin Map Updater instead. It's stated in 2 places on the Garmin website that Garmin Express supports the eTrex 32x.
I tried Garmin Map Updater and it says it's unable to connect to the internet (and I tried disabling all anti-virus and firewall).
Then I found and tried Garmin Web Updater, which is what Garmin BaseCamp launches to update the device software. It connects to the GPS, downloads the new software from the internet for it, but chokes saying the update file is corrupted.
Garmin BaseCamp connects to the GPS but says it cannot transfer waypoints or routes to it as the GPS does not support them (it does) or BaseCamp needs to be upgraded (and it's at the latest version and development of it stopped in 2018).
With some research and more effort, there are third party solutions that work for maps/waypoints/routes, but Garmin really needs to take support of their apps on...
