LC NG: I am from Malaysia, so I bought the Garmin GPS through Amazon Singapore. However, When the product reach me is with US Map, not Malaysia map. In the worst is I am not familiar with how to download & change it with Malaysia Map. Without Malaysia map, the product with me is useless 😡. Where can I get help ? Or do you have any Garmin help desk in Malaysia ?

aep4190: I upgraded from a 5" Garmin to this 7" Garmin and I really like the larger screen and some of the new features. It gives a bell sound when the speed limit changes, or if entering a school zone. We recently drove from Toronto, Canada to Orlando, FL . The split screen to show which lane or lanes to be in for upcoming exits was very helpful and it warned us of Red light camera intersections. We also had it set for fastest route and it kept trying to direct us to toll route or express lanes that you had to pay for. Really liked that we could ask it for "gas stations nearby" and it would list them. At 2am it helped find a station that was open when we only had 25 miles to empty! On those interstate highways gas stations are few and far between!! the only thing about it is that the screen is very shiny - reflective. I bought a matt screen protector for it and it made a big difference.

Amazon Customer: I got the SmartDrive 66 and am quite pleased with it so far. Its only drawback has been the suction mount, which I urge folks to ignore. I mounted it with an iOttie phone clamp mount, which so far has worked very well. Suction mounts give out from heat and many users have complained about the angle to which the suction mount limits the display.

If you have the connectivity, run map updates through a high-speed connection -- I have gig speed, so updates that should take many hours took a few minutes. The navigation system has been responsive and accurate the few times I've worked with it, and this frees up my phone. During a recent cross country trip I was frustrated by Google Maps's and Waze's slow response to quick turns, my phone could overhead on the dashboard when exposed to the sun on a warm day (esp when I had to maintain a charging connection to deal with rapid battery drain by the map software), and other phone functions often interrupted the map display. The Garmin 66 gets around these problems.

Its bluetooth version won't connect to my car's bluetooth -- it looks for "phones," and my car's pairing screen acknowledges the attempt but instructs to "press play...

David: I admit, I was a little skeptical when it came to this GPS. However, I was pleasantly surprised. My first reaction was how smooth it was, however when I went to update it via Wifi, it immediately started having issues. The update had failed, and I had to connect it to my PC, which allowed the update process to work nicely. Unfortunately, ever since that incident, the GPS tends to restart the configuration process from scratch often times. That aside however, I do wish there were more voices to use and vehicles, as some sound too robotic. Still, besides all of that, it was incredibly accurate, wonderful display, and the mount makes it all worth it, since it's easy to take off and put back on. Some locations aren't found easily, and I have to use other landmarks, but still, it's better than nothing.

Overall, besides the issues I've had which I feel may not be common, it's a very nice GPS and I have no regrets with it.

MadPB: I got this to upgrade my very old Nuvi model. On those old GPS displays, the touch screen is SO frustrating and you have to really press and wait for it to recognize each tap. The old one was also frustratingly slow to recalculate the route if I detoured for something like a rest area or exit to get gas. The voice saying "Recalculating" becomes a running joke on long road trips.

So, enough about the old one... the new Garmin models have a much more responsive touch screen just like cell phones. The processor in there is a lot faster to recalculate if you're doing a detour (and without the annoying voice telling you about it). It also supports extra nav systems besides GPS which seems to help it be even more accurate (with 10 feet is usually what I got). The old one would sometimes lose signals in valleys or downtown between buildings and might show me a hundred feet away, but this model does a great job of showing where I really am.

The voice navigation is amazing. It was so cumbersome to type in addresses on the old one but with the nice touchscreen, that's a breeze, but what I really loved was being able to say "Okay Garmin, go to Walgreens" or something and then...

Patrick H. Nguyen: I've been using this for over a year, and it's been fantastic. In case this review is appearing in the wrong place (because for some reason, Amazon is grouping reviews for different Garmin devices together), I'm reviewing the Garmin DriveSmart 86. If you think this is your dad's Garmin, you couldn't be more wrong. It merges the best aspects of smartphone navigation (traffic updates, points of interests (POIs)) with the excellent Garmin features. If you don't drive a lot or don't use a GPS a lot, you don't notice the problems with smartphone navigation. But use it enough and you'll notice how much better Garmin is. Do I always think Garmin navigation is always better? No. But on average, I feel 60-70% of the time it's better. Now, if I'm in a heavy traffic situation or if I'm in a very unfamiliar location, I will run both at the same time and then decide based on my prior knowledge of the area and my instincts to determine which one to trust at any given moment. Here's some pros for the Garmin. You don't need any cellular reception in order for the navigation to work. This came in quite handy when I was in areas of poor reception like rural areas. Sure, with smartphones you can...

FaroukFarouk: I purchased the 76 but found the screen too big. I returned it and Amazon did not have 66 at that time for quick delivery at a competitive price. I therefore purchased 66 from another source.

This is therefore a review on 6"

The 66 is a 6" screen. Due to its small bezel, the physical size only marginally larger than my previous Drive5
I have mounted in in coffee cup holder with Goose neck. The coffee cup holder fits in an empty space on the right of previous generation RAV4 (2016). See the image.

What I like

1) Gorgeous landscape screen.
2) Familiar navigation. Ample timely instructions on upcoming turns and which lane to move to.
3) I would expect out of city driving to be as accurate as the previous Garmin which uses Here Maps
4) This version of Garmin allows choice of clutter-free screen If I need gas station I will state " OK GARMIN Take me to Nearest PetroCanada" It is accurate. I do not want to see it on the screen all the time.
5) One can choose the audio sound to come from the car speakers on Garmin. I choose Garmin and the car speakers are for my radio and phone calls. It is possible not to use the smartphone and app but my...
