mamabear: I bought this so I could make sure my outlets were grounded before I plugged in my grounding sheet. I tested a friend's outlets before having her use my grounding mat and found that she had several problems with some of her electrical circuits in her home. The tester indicated that she had some outlets that had open ground and some that weren't grounded. Using the tester was so easy and it was very accurate. My friend was able to get the problems resolved and is not worried anymore about potential electrical dangers. She has peace of mind now.

BoBo: At this price I don't know how anyone can give this less than 5 stars. I used the items upgrading two outlets to GFCI, and also testing that my alteration of my portable generator to bonded neutral was correct. I think I will buy a second set as well. While I am a careful citizen, I am not very experienced in this kind of thing, and there is one thing that I put into my mind above all other things, BEFORE I TOUCH AN OUTLET, TEST IT FOR VOLTAGE. Test it by at least two methods. And if I take a break from it and come back, test it again, NEVER assume that I set the breaker, even if I think I remember doing so. Famous last words..."I thought I had turned the electricity off". Maybe when I am more experienced I can lighten up, but until then, extreme caution is the watch phrase.

Anyway, someone who would complain about this item, at this price, must have a pretty low threshold for complaining.

Kent: I have quite a few non-contact testers - this one is right in the middle in terms of quality/usability. Unfortunately, I misplace these all the time so it makes sense for me to have several of them so I can find one easily when I need one. I do have a fluke tester and obviously I like that the most but I can get 10 of THESE for just 1 of those for the same price. This works ok - but I find the sensitivity just a bit too high. That means when trying to find which wires are live - this sounds the alarm very easily and sometimes it is difficult to tell which ones are hot if they are somewhat close together

SometimesMaybeGood SometimesMaybeShhhh: I'm in safety by trade and wanted a simple GFCI/Live wire tester for my daily use.

This is definitely a cheaper kit but I think for the cost it's great for a weekend warrior or someone who won't be using this every day.

Overall I'm happy with the quality and I think the price is reflective of its quality. Nothing exceptionally bad or good about it. Just a barebones kit.
