Lawrence Bates: These are great little wrenches. I didn't even know these existed until an electrical guy told me about them.
Said I could get at Home Depot but they were out. Also , they didn't really know what they were. I bought the set of 3 because I didn't know what size I needed. The regular lock nuts on outdoor lighting fixtures are the 1/2 inch size, the smaller of the 3. There you have it.

Terry S: Work well, with decent leverage. Unfortunately they don’t work well when you’re trying to get at a lockring inside a box with a lip for a door.
Be careful when using new, the holes can have small unseen burrs that will scratch paint.
…still not sure what the notches in the side are for either
