Amazon Customer: While maybe not as eloquent as Lewis, Tozer's writing is a little easier to grasp. I recommend reading both. This book helps to illuminate some the questions that most of us have about the mysteries of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

Macpat: For those who profess the Christian faith this will lead to a deeper walk with God which is illustrated by the author's remarkable grasp of the attributes of God. I personally will read this book again and again to try and come closer to this amazing God who has given us so much.

colin: I recommend Tozer to any Christian seeking an escape from the self-centric, quasi-humanistic flavour of today’s books on God. While we drown in the genre of Christian self-help, it’s good to know that we can easily go back in time and experience the work of holy men ultimately concerned with a Holy God. (Though it’s interesting, even in this work, Tozer complains about self-centred pettiness in the church of his day - can you imagine what he would think now?)

If you’re new to Tozer, I would recommend starting with “the Pursuit of God”. If you’re simply new to this particular work, I’d try and find one that’s better formatted. Whoever ‘translated’ this book to Kindle format didn’t take the time to, er, format. The result is often confusing, frustrating, and grammatically incorrect.

David F.: Why aren't we taught this in every church in the land. A W Tozer can really help us begin to learn how to see more clearly how we should worship and reverence the Majesty on high and His only begotten Son at His right hand through His word being led by the Holy Spirit. If you are yearning for a deeper walk with God this is a great help. I think we should all look back a learn from the great saints back through the ages. Men and women of proven character and see how they looked to and sought God with proper reverence and worship of who He is- the Great I Am.

MereChristian: One of the areas that Christians tend to not think enough about is the absolute glory and greatness of Our God. I specifically said Christians with no such adjectives as "today" or "modern" because I think this has been a problem throughout history. In other words, unlike A. W. Tozer, in his book The Knowledge of the Holy, I don't think that the ancients had it so perfect and we only recently flubbed this up.

Despite this and a few other minor quibbles, I was greatly edified by the above-titled book, and do recommend it. In his book, Tozer states from the outset that, since not everyone is able, due to education, time, etc., to read and understand the deeper studies in theology and Scriptural exegesis, he is going to pare down the concepts into a short, and easy to understand, volume.

The format he uses is to begin each chapter by describing an attribute of God. He then uses that chapter to do two things. First off, he deals with explaining said attribute, and second, Tozer ties the concepts and chapters together by making clear that each of these attributes are constantly present in the Godhead.
