Jodi Henley: The series started out well, but really slowed down in this one to the point where I won't be reading any more of them. It also wasn't funny. Very disappointed

Dave Higgins: Parker combines observational comedy about old age with a fast-paced supernatural mystery, creating a tale that will engage fans of both vampires and detective stories..
For many years, elderly supernatural beings have lived out their retirements in communities like the one in Jellyfish Beach, Florida. With guards chosen for their discretion and dedicated healthworkers to help them avoid the awkward questions which would come from a hospital visit, they spend their time in comfort and security. Until a serial killer starts dumping exsanguinated bodies on the beach, threatening to draw the attention of vampire hunters.
Parker starts with the premise that mortal supernatural beings, such as werewolves, still age and thus face many of the same issues and adopt many of the same habits as elderly humans, then—quite logically—concludes that this will also apply to those who, while immortal, became so late in their human lives. As potential readers might have already guessed from mention of a retirement community of vampires living in a town called Jellyfish Beach, this is comedy not tragedy; however, the characters approach their situation in the same way humans...

GranJan: This cozy mystery involves some Florida Beachside retirement condos. One is inhabited by vampires, another by werewolves. None of them hunt close to home, but someone is murdering at the beach and the police are noticing. There is a lot going on in the story and I was quite surprised with how it ended. I want more! I am off to read book 2 in this series.

R Grisham-Whitehouse: I expected it to be even more tongue in cheek than it was but overall a pretty good story. I think the female protagonist needed more back story to make her new powers believable. Same with police detective needed more history to make violence make sense

Joviswoman: Vampires living in condos in FLORIDA??????? Old ones not lithe young ones, ones that got turned VERY late in life 😮
Werewolves living NEXTDOOR???
Missy is a home nurse that treats them all 😮 for oap problems!!? Plus she's not that normal either 😲
Then bodies start piling up in the dunes outside. Has one of the Vamps got to old to go further afield to have a snack? Or are they being set up??
Great idea and it is humorous, but I'd like more snickering out loud moments and it could have so much more.
But I did like the book.

Kindle Customer: Loved this frolic through the senior citizens living in gated condos on the beach. How imaginative to have aging vampires and werewolves as clients for a Home Health worker! Old age comes to all but it has a particular twist if you are "made" in your elder years. Murders along the sand dunes near the vampire complex seem to mimic vampire cruising but there are rules, and gossip. Someone is hunting illegal prey and everyone is suspect. The werewolves are an obvious suspect since their condo is next door and bad blood exists between the two. Missy, a middle-aged nurse, visits her clients, both werewolf and vampire, at specific hours due to their lifestyles and she has plenty of amulets and spells, plus pepper spray as she travels her route. A determined reporter, a senior vampire who leaves the grounds and trolls for young women, gate guards, and Caribbean hexes, spice the story and make a reader clutch the characters to the heart in familiar situations only the paranormal can bring.

Lisa: Took me awhile to read this, as it's a series. Finished it and am so delighted with it. I want more and am so pleased I've collected almost the whole series. This'll be so fun to read the continuing stories. I'm hooked.
