hvdeen: I have used this timer in the chicken coop for 3 years. A couple of times the timer seemed to randomly change a day where it would shut off just before coming on again so it was on all night. I have blamed the geese for this as they are always chewing on things and maybe inadvertently pushed a button. Lol so the fact that it's been in with animals and lasted 3 years should be good? I just bought another one bc this one is only coming on if you wiggle it now. hopefully the next one will last as long or longer.

David Snowdon: These household timers are excellent for turning on and off electrical devices at predetermined times. It comes with an information sheet that is incomplete when describing how to program them. Youtube has two videos that I recommend you watch - search for "Crest timer instructions" for Part 1 and Part 2. Once you view these videos you'll understand how to set-up the timers.

Yan: I have been using this timer for more than 5 years now. I bought 2 more to replace my older analog timers and use one as a countdown-to-off timer for a fan.

It MAY take some time to learn the programming but once you learn it, it is simple, really, and much more versatile than the analog timers. (plan your programings on paper first). 10 individual programming = more than you ever need for many variations of on/off. Plus, it has daylight saving time. Plus, a countdown-to-off function and a countdown-to-on function. And manual override button. I haven't had the need to use the "random" button yet.

Amazon Customer: I bought two of these timers after reading reviews. I use these to dose two part alkalinity and calcium for my reef tank.
These are hooked up to two dosing pumps. One timer is set to come on at 6:00 pm and go off at 6:20pm seven days a week. The other is set to come on at 7:00 and go off at 7:20 seven days a week. A VERY BASIC program if i might add. I checked the timer that was set to come on at 6:00 and go off at 6:20 last night at 6:45 and it was still running. There was some crazy screen with dashes on it and the unit was froze in the on position. I tried pressing the manual button to override it and shut it off, but nothing worked.
I unplugged my dosing pump and pulled the timer. Did a reset and reprogrammed it. If I hadn't checked the timer I would've lost thousand of dollars worth of corals. It's sad that they can't make reliable stuff anymore. I read just about all the reviews on the top rated timers here on amazon and numerous other sites. Theres always something negative in all of them. Defective units and what not. Im currently looking into a different brand, but honestly i don't think anyone makes a good timer anymore. Judy L.: I bought this timer to control times that my plant lights are on or off. Although programming it isn't entire intuitive, once set up you should not have to program it again except to change the time for DST which is easily done by pressing two buttons simultaneously.

You can program up to 10 programs for different days of the week. There are two plugs on this timer, but all programs are applied to both plugs. For example, in my case, I want my plant lights to go on at 8 am and turn off at 12 am every day, so I needed to set up only one program. If you like, you can set up programs for electrical products to go off and on at different times on different days. What I very much like about this timer is that you don't lose the programming if the electricity goes off. It has battery powered memory that retains all of your settings. You don't even have to reset the time of day as this is retained and kept current in memory. When plugged in, it covers only one outlet leaving the other open for use.
