Ottawa Mike: I used this alarm for a backdoor chime. I was worried that because of the molding that the contacts wouldn't work but it still worked even though they didn't line up perfectly. The stickers work well so no tools necessary. The range for the chime is good as well and I put it upstairs with no issues.

PifcoPifco: I bought this door alarm because my motorized garage door occasionally opens spontaneously when I'm unaware. Not a good thing in winter. I also use this basement garage door as a winter entrance (no regular door to the outside, no snow shovelling of the front steps) so open it remotely from two floors up to admit visitors. Best mounting is with the transmitter on the wall above the door and the magnet beneath on the door edge. A larger gap is required to keep the two parts from striking as the door rises and pulls away. The gap can be up to 1/4 inch or so, so it works perfectly for me.

A couple of niggles.... The unit takes up so much space in one outlet of a duplex receptacle that there is no room for a 3 prong plug in the second outlet. Moving the prongs further toward the edge of the unit would help. Also, it would be handy if the chime operated on closing of the door as well, just to confirm. I have a second sensor set up to activate when I close the garage door remotely, but it doesn't confirm that it is actually closed.

I've had a good experience with another Fosmon product (remote controlled electrical receptacles) so I hope this will be true of this product....

s: This is my second time purchasing the Fosmon Door Chime since the first one seemed to have an issue with its Ring Tones. The first Door Chime worked great for 1+ year but then all of a sudden there was no sound emitting when the door was opened anymore. At first, I thought it was the battery so I replaced the battery but that did not fix the issue. After several days of trying to figure out what the problem was, I ended up ordering a new Chime and giving the old one another try. SUrprisingly the old Chime worked for a whole of 2 minutes and then it stopped working again. At this point, I believe there was a broken/loose wire inside of the receiver and it was not worth it to spend any more time on this device. I installed the new device and so far it's been working like it's supposed to. The only problem I have with this Chime is longevity hence the 4 stars. Another, for me, small matter to consider is that while the Chime does work great most of the time there are a few instances where the chime failed to sound. This was not an issue for me but it might be for someone else.

Cody Cakes: I purchased this last year because my toddler sleeps on the 2nd floor and we sleep on the 3rd floor and I needed peace of mind knowing I had an extra set "eyes and ears" on her while we are asleep. If I didn't hear her awake and moving around on the baby monitor, I wanted to know that this would for sure wake me if she decided to venture out of her room while I was asleep (heaven knows that sometimes even a light sleeper can fall into a deep sleep!). It works like a charm!!

Installation was quick and easy! We installed it at the top of her door (so she would never be able to pull it off) with the double stick tape that was provided and it didn't quite work because the door frame is a little chunkier- but it was an easy fix . I had extra double stick tape left over from something else so I just doubled up on the tape and that lifted it enough to get it to meet./touch the sensor.

We plugged in the sound receiver in our bedroom and chose one of the many chimes/songs and adjusted the volume (the loudest level is very loud!) and synced them without issue. You will need a 2nd person to help sync them if you are more than 5 seconds away from the door. I should also note...

A Mom Who Knows: We got this because we have a young adult child with brain injury who escapes out the back door when no one is looking, and also likes to go into the bathroom in the middle of the night and overflow the sink. After waking up to an inch of water on the bathroom floor, we decided we needed to take drastic action.

Because our other daughter has autism, we couldn't use the alarms that beep or sound like a siren. We needed something more pleasant that would still get our attention in a sometimes noisy home. When I found this alarm that plays music, I thought it might work for us.

This alarm arrived quickly, was simple to install, and works well for our family. We found two different songs to signal the back door and the bathroom door. There are enough different kinds of sounds that you are sure to find something palatable for your household. There are several different door bell chimes, a siren or barking dog (if you want to scare off burglars), and so many tunes we never made it through all of them. We just picked a couple that were acceptable to us.
