Fly By Jing Sichuan Chili Crisp - Extra Large 16oz Jar

Ron C: Chili Crisp is all the rage right now and I feel super hip and superior when I add it to various foods and the people around me roll their eyes and turn up their noses. They can’t help it that they aren’t as cool as me. But most of all, they’re missing out on the amazing flavor and texture it adds to otherwise boring food. I prefer this brand because there’s no sweetness or obnoxious amounts of heat. I’ll definitely be buying more when it runs out!

tamir: I actually wasn’t sure how I’d like this. I’m a picky eater and adorer of HOT and spicy food. Chinese food isn’t my fav, I’m not big on the sweet and savory dishes local spots offer but I do like savory dishes like fried rice and lo Mein when a craving hits. If you’re anything like me, you find both of those dishes from the local Chinese place to be kind of one dimension and uninspiring, flavor wise. I always saw this item on Amazon but never thought about trying it until a lo mein craving hit Me.. hard. As lo mein lacks flavor for me, I purchased this and it came later that day. when it arrived, I bought some lo mein, tried it on top of my noodles and good godddd is this delicious. It’s complex. I can’t describe the flavor at all, it’s very strange but delicious. It goes great on all Chinese food but let me tell y’all where it SHINED!!! One night, I made a huge pot of white rice and said forget it and ordered pizza, put it in the fridge. Tiny Tim: I am sure the 🌶️ crisps are good, but I received the package today with one of the jars leaking. The seal seemed broken and all the chili oil had leaked out into the wrapper.

Unable to file an inquiry with Amazon directly since they said it's an item that can't be returned.

A little but disappointed that I basically received a 1.5 jar when paid for a two jar.

Smells good tho. I'm sure the taste is good. That's why 4 stars.

Kathy Y.Kathy Y.: Fly By Jing's chili crisp makes me feel like a chef in my own kitchen. I like to make fast and easy recipes on weeknights which leads to boring dishes (e.g., roasted chicken and veggies, fried eggs, simple salad, etc.), but this chili crisp drizzled on top makes any meal instantly more interesting. For example, on my roasted delicata squash in this picture, the chili crisp adds an amazing umami kick and crunchy texture to the sweet and mushy squash. I've also drizzled some in my mixed nuts (especially amazing with cashews), on toast or any bland carb, and Greek yogurt (chili crisp on dairy is amazing). I can't take a ton of spicy, but with this jar, I can dial up or down the heat by the amount of pepper (the "crunch") I add.

Compared to other popular chili crisps (Momofuku, for example), the Fly By Jing one has more umami and actual deep and subtle flavors. I've tried other Fly by Jing products as well, and my other favorite is the Zhong sauce. Less spicy, and more sweet, and TON of umami. I also put Zhong sauce on anything, and have mixed the Zhong sauce and chili crisp together because they add different textures and flavors.

A.V.A.V.: UPDATE: The seller reached out and offered a refund. I refused because I did not want to take money away from a small business owner. However they refunded me anyway. I cannot say enough good things about the owners. They are truly honest and kind people with a generous heart and it was much appreciated! A rare commodity on Amazon. I gave the 2nd jar to my sister and she actually loved it. She likes salty and spicey, so it depends upon the consumer. If you love spicey stuff with that "umami savory" taste (that certain "something" that makes a savory dish taste yummy), then I think this would be for you. We've been using it on our morning eggs and we like that the best, it's perfect with eggs. :-)

I had too high hopes for this after seeing a report on a morning show about it. I had never heard of chili crisp and it sounded fantastic, and the small business that owns it seemed like good people. So I wanted to test it out. Could only find it in a local Target store, but it was very pricey. Amazon charged the same price but at least it was for 2 jars instead of one.
