Cheryl M-M: My grandson loves this book. It's five monkeys - some of the monkeys bouncing on the bed books have ten monkeys. The illustrations are simple, fun and pretty. The book is hardback, which is a plus for us because he can be a bit rough with paper pages.
The author also does other books with the monkeys and there is a book with all of the monkey stories in it, which I also bought. I had to get a second copy because the first was worn out from reading it every night at bedtime.

Nicolas C.: "Five Little Monkeys Jumping On the Bed" est une chanson du répertoire classique des enfants anglophones. Le vocabulaire que cette chanson contient est suffisamment simple et répétitif pour utiliser la chanson pour introduire du vocabulaire anglais à des enfants francophones. Cependant, pour ce faire, il est utile de disposer d'un support, et ce livre illustré remplit parfaitement ce rôle.
D'un format adéquat pour les petites mains des enfants, ce livre propose une phrase par page, chacune étant illustrée de jolis dessins des petits singes en question. Les graphismes sont à ce propos pas trop simplistes, ni trop détaillés, juste ce qu'il faut pour bien repérer l'action. Les cinq petits singes peuvent être aisément distingués les uns des autres, ce qui aide les enfants à les compter (compter de 5 à 1 étant l'objectif premier de la chanson).
C'est donc un ouvrage que je recommande aux parents qui souhaitent initier leurs enfants à l'anglais ainsi qu'aux enseignants de maternelle et des premières années de primaire.
