Michael K.: With all of the news stories about people suffocating from Carbon Monoxide poisoning, I decided to get these monitors. I am glad I did. I had no idea how quickly CO can accumulate in my home when using gas stoves for cooking, a propane furnace and a propane hot water heater. I was amazed at how accurately this detects CO and monitors it for my family's safety. This should be a must have in every home.

ChemProf: It is difficult to evaluate how accurate this device is, because I have never had a carbon monoxide emergency. This is extremely easy to install. The previous one has lasted many years. You can test the sound; it is very loud. If it works, it certainly will wake you up. It is a plug in unit with a back up battery in case of power outages. They do not have infinite lifetimes, but they are inexpensive and last 5-7 years. One annoying thing is when they finally die, they make periodic sequences of 4 very loud chirps. If this happens in the middle of the night, it is not pleasant. If you have a combustible (wood, oil, gas) heating or cooking system, it is probably a good idea to have a couple of these in your house.
