Exaltix: Our original went bad - it kept beeping like the battery was bad. This is an update version of the earlier model. It fit right over the piece installed in the ceiling and works perfectly.

TimK: Bought 12, 1 arrived defective. The bad one kept doing a low chirp sound. It wasn't a low battery sound, but something else. None of the shippers would take it to return because they thought it would be seen as a ticking bomb or something! Amazon finally understood and replaced it without having to return it. The other 11 are working. Slim profile. Let's see if they really last 10 years.
