Renee F: I found the fast paced action both enticing and exhausting! I kept reading to find out what came next.
A few Americanism s were irritating. This is supposedly Britain in 1916.
The most egregious faux pas was stating that a character had studied many languages at
Eton College, Inferring that Eton is a tertiary level institution. It is a private school for the progeny of the wealthy upper class .

Lorraine L. Miller: Though this is the second book in a series, I really enjoyed meeting Fiona Figg! Fiona has been recruited from the typing pool to find out all she can about the mysterious Fredrick Fredricks, aka The Great White Hunter or The Black Panther. She has also been instructed NOT to use her disguises and to stay out of trouble. Things don't always work out the way we plan. A lost passport, two separate Murders, an execution, a prison escape - Oh My! Fiona is afraid she'll be sacked from her job at the War Office and all she really wants is to get back home to London, a hot bath and a good cuppa.
Definitely a fun read with some twists and turns and a few surprises! I especially liked the real historical characters who played a part in Fiona's adventure.

Libby Dodd: I have mixed feeling about this book.
The first half (or so) was annoyed me because the main character, who was considered skilled enough to be sent as a secret agent, was a classic TSTL (too stupid to live) person.
I held on and kept reading hoping for an improvement.
The story did improve (somewhat) in the second half when she started being really pushed by circumstances.
Not a favorite. over all.

brenda: This was my first time to read a mystery by Kelly Oliver. The setting is WWII, the English War Room and a very determined young lady. Her assignment is to travel to Paris, France and OBSERVE a suspected spy agent Fredrick Fredricks. This isn't the first time she has gone on an assignment. Her boss warns her of NOT wear ANY disguises. That is like waving a red flag in front of a bull.
Fiona Figg is her name, collecting evidence of a person or persons being double spy agents. First thing that happens to unsuspecting Figg is she meets a really beautiful lady on the train to Paris and finds her passport has been stollen. Figg suspects the lady and is determined to find her passport. She dones the first costume -- and becomes a bell hop. Many a young lady hits on him/her. She manages to sneak into the suspects rooms but finds nothing the first time around.
Using her male disguises she gets to work at the most influential banquet, eaves drops on a baffling conversation, discovers the body of her contact and gets thrown in the men's jail. Fortunately, and to her chagrin, an English soldier comes to her rescue.
The hotel maid she met suddenly disappears after getting engaged....

Amazon Customer: I was intrigued by the title and expect a fast moving adventure story but it turned out to be too slow.. The author liked to repeat what just happened in the story, Don’t need to read anymore of her stories.
