Erin Dassie: I have no words for what this book has done for me. I am a neurodivergent woman, military wife, and mother who pushed myself into burn out while my husband has been away for almost a year. I lost my faith and every one of my relationships struggled; some fell apart entirely.

This book appeared when I needed it most.

This book has been the first step in mending my relationship with Christ. I am reminded that I do not need to prove myself by taking on everything all at once all the time.

Jesus calls me worthy as-is. He has called me worthy all this time, even when I refused to listen. And this book finally reminded me of that and carved it into me. Thank you, more than I can say. This book may honestly have saved me from myself.

Bookwyrm: Jennifer Dukes Lee has control issues, as do many of us, but in addition to those issues, she’s got a killer sense of humor and wisdom that will change your life. So much of this book hit me where I live and gave me the gentle reminder that even though I do things out of love, I need to accept that I am loved and I don’t have to earn it or prove my love in return. The only deficit of this book is that I found myself also seeing my husband in it, and I wished it wasn’t quite so woman-centric, because I’m probably going to ask him to read it anyway. (We’ll see how some of the topics go over!)

Susan Bricker: I love when God leads you to the perfect book in His perfect timing. Jennifer Dukes Lee brought that book in “It’s All Under Control” and I absolutely loved it! Jennifer writes in an easy to read, faith-filled, raw, authentic way and she sprinkles it with laugh out loud humor. I felt like I was sitting across from her as we shared a cup of coffee together.

Jennifer Dukes Lee shares how control had become a coping mechanism to numb herself from the pain of life. She discusses the unhealthy affects control has upon us and how it can break us down, piece by piece. There’s a cost to control. This quote by Jennifer summed it all up for me. “I can’t begin to tell you how I willingly withstand the pressure of believing I have to be “in control,” reliable, on top of all things—and how often that self-pressure completely breaks me.
