LanceLance: Honestly I was looking rather hard for either an Okuma, Daiwa or Penn surf rod but every shelf was bare as with a load of other gear these days. I have rods by these other brands and they have served me well. But I needed a surf’ pole now and just took a shot with this rod. I have had it a week and from the unboxing to the two fish I caught already ( 16 lb. ling cod & 5-ft. blue shark) I am completely impressed. The rod was well boxed and protected, came in a reasonable amount of time and even came in a handsome blue/black nylon sleeve. This rod is wearing one of my Daiwa saltist reels (6500) big’ spinners. Mismatch right? ..... $800+ reel ( when I bought it... more now) and a way under $100 rod. Surprisingly they mate really well. The damn thing has great action and I am bombing heavy terminal gear (w/8 oz. weight) a country mile. As far as strength.... It easily handled the shark which ran deep twice outside the reef .. with ease. I fish for shark and feel pretty good at handling a much bigger cousin with this set up. A side tip... if you catch a blue shark... eat it! The flesh is so close to swordfish... without the skin, it is hard to tell the difference. And don’t...

ConnieConnie: Ordered this rod with the intention of using it in the surf at the Gulf. Wanted a rod that could bomb larger spoons (2-3 oz) and heavier top waters (1.5-3 oz). Packaging was fair but definitely not overly protective, they did however wrap the top portion of the rod rather well to ensure the last eye didn’t sustain damage. I haven’t used the rod yet but I’ve taken some practice casts and it seems to be exactly what I expected. Rod isn’t overly sensitive, but I didn’t expect ultra-light sensitivity from a $60 9ft surf rod. Seems study and well made, and the blue is a beautiful color. The handles are thinner than expected, but I have large hands. Handle also feels like it will have good grip in surf conditions, as well as a well constructed reel seat. Will be pairing this with a 4000 daiwa saltist (highly recommend this reel), and will update rating if it doesn’t perform well. Tight lines

oboy: rod has 2pieces and very stiff cast fantastic eyes look durable i beach fish and the rod is going to take a real beating in the sand and surf so time will tell how durable it is UPDATE dec 17 fishing in the surf made cast using 4oz weight with 15pd brade line and cast and tip of rod snapped at the front of the second eye down from the tip not goodUPDATE amazon took care of issue replaced rod replaced rod really fast(3days) have been using rod regulary casts great but line seems to hang up on hard casts at tip on the tip itself but cast ok these rods really do cast with 15pd line braid i cast cast 100 yards fairly easily with 4-5oz weight so this rod is a great cast and has good fish bite sensativity,and i have caught tons well alot of fish now like whiting pompono blues sharks the rod has med action and handles these hard fighting fish well when people see the blue rod they say it is a really nice blue beautiful rod UPDATE 11/16/23 i have really as i said put these rods to alot of use they are still holding up But! the saddle that holds the reels is starting to let the reel shift around alittle i have tightened up the reel and even filed the reel where it goes into the rod saddle...

Marcus SimpsonMarcus Simpson: VISUAL: I ordered two of the 11ft rods and they did come in a timely manner. The eyes of the rods were well protected as that was a concern of mine from reading other reviews about having rods delivered in general. Their was some minor blemishes but no scratches. The problem is I ordered two identical rods and one has absolutely no labeling on it. No name, No line and lure weight rating. The rods are nice looking and when I took them out on the pier, people are asking the name and I have to show them my other rod. To some it's not a big deal, to some it is.
PERFORMANCE: This rod performed almost as good as my St. Croix. Casting was nice and smooth. I was very surprised and the hand grips feel great as well. I guess the true test was when I hooked into a massive ray and the rod held up the whole fight. I honestly was expecting it to break cause it was bending like crazy. Overall it's a decent rod for the price. Thinking about ordering the Fiblink Moonsniper next just concerned if it's going to come with labeling or not.
