Mr. S. Palmer: It's a squire, good quality and 30" short scale looks and sounds nice.

d3: Our friend had one that was super playable. We ordered the same model, and it doesn't play as well, even after set-up. Still good for the price.

K. Gale: This is a short scale bass not just for adult beginners or small kids, I am a guitar player with big hands and was looking for a bass that would be a good transition from guitar...This fit the bill perfect. The neck and frets were good out of box.. With just a small adjustment on relief...The intonation was off on the big strings but even with the 2 saddle bridge it went easy...Just loosen strings to adjust back with screw driver... The pickup is a strat guitar style but sounded good to my ears... The quality is good for $200, I did want to spend a bunch on a bass , are you going gig at a arena with this prolly not... I just wanted something to have around if a bass playing friend comes by, and this works for me....The vendor "geartree" was quick to ship my order out , very happy with the service.. There are basses on the market a little more or little less but most are long scale, this bass worked good for me out of the box , yes you could spend money on upgrades but its not needed, this design is based on a vintage bass, sweet and simple......what more do you need starting out...

David WDavid W: Going into this, I was fully aware I was buying a returned item. I had no disillusions of mint condition, never touched since item left the factory. I will say the bass is in much better condition over all than I expected. Yes, the outer box was beaten up. But the bass guitar was decently packaged and arrived in good shape. đź‘Ť

The only two issues I have with it over all is it's not the Olympic White I ordered and the one of the of the pick guard screw is missing. For my needs, nether of these are deal breaker. I do feel that Amazon staff should have confirmed that what they were shipping 100% correct, even on pre returned items.

As for the bass itself, I'm very pleased with it. Being a returned item, the neck wasnt damaged any and thr only scratches are on the protective film on the pick guard. For a 200-300 dollar bass guitar, it a pretty good deal and being a PJ model you basically get two Precision and Jazz bass in one. You want to more of a sharp sound, turn up the Precision volume. Want a muddy motown sound, turn down the Precision volume and tun up the Jazz volume and adjustthe Tone knob. You can dail in as much of each of the pickups as you want and make...

AJ Kandy: This is literally the least expensive bass in the Squier by Fender stable of products, part of the line that is manufactured in Indonesia. If you're looking for a simple, easy-to-upgrade short-scale instrument, and are willing to spend money and time on it, you can turn this into a workhorse.

It is OK for beginners, but there are better instruments you can get for not much more money.

Pros:
- Inexpensive
- Short Scale - easier for beginners or people who find long-scale basses difficult to play
- It's a Squier
- Decent fit and finish overall

Cons:
- It has a repurposed guitar pickup, which means the magnetic field isn't concentrated where the four bass strings are.
- Cheap feeling potentiometers
- The bridge does not have one saddle per string, which limits how well you can intonate the instrument.
- The neck is practically bare wood, and it's not clear that it's been properly seasoned / dried.
- On two instruments I tried, the walnut 'skunk stripe' for the truss rod channel was not sanded flush with the maple neck.
- The fretwork is basic; the fret ends stick out and you'll probably want to take it to a luthier first thing to...

MattMatt: Since this page is for the Squier line of basses and not just one in particular, I’ll mention that I purchased the Squier Affinity PJ Bass. This is the second bass I’ve owned, the first being an Ibanez from the early 90’s or so. Having owned this bass for over a month, I can confidently review this product now. It’s pretty apparent that build quality for budget instruments is on point right now, and Squier is easily one of the best budget brands.

Firstly, if you’re considering this bass, it’s not ready to play out of the box. If you’re trying to play something right when you get it, you’ll probably want to buy in person, as it will most likely be set up. That being said, included in the box are tools required for adjustments on the truss rod, and bridge saddles. A search online can help with setup, or you can take it to a shop if you’re not comfortable with it.

With all that out of the way, this bass is awesome. I purchased the Olympic White color, and I think it looks pretty sick. I purchased this bass to experiment with different tones, the p-bass pickup has a nice softer more mellow tone and the jazz style pickup has a more warm twangy tone that...

Mario Dupuis: My first bass ever. Of course being a Fender jazz bass copy (made by Fender) it needed an initial setup (trust rod, string action, tuning, pickup height) but after it was done, this baby plays like a charm. That's a lot coming from a total noob on bass guitar. The tone is very rich and virtually unlimited. It has 2 volume knobs, one for each pickup, that you can tweak to get the desired tone, plus a tone knob that will shape your tone on both pickup for more variety and style. Mine came without the usually included hex wrench (bridge saddles and trust rob hex key), but I guess it was a mistake from the manufacturer. Used the one for my GWL strat style guitar for the saddle, fortunately it was of the same gauge. Had to use one of those I had in my tool box since the one for the guitar was too small for the bass trust rod adjustment. Removed one star because of that. Otherwise it is a great bass (and do not get me started on the "beginner bass"). That bass can certainly be brought to any gig without feeling cheap. It is still a Fender after all. At that price point (and I know I have paid much less than what other sellers ask for that guitar) it is a total steal. I would recommend...
